As the year draws to a close, the Aleph Strategies team gathered in Paris last week to celebrate a remarkable year of growth, innovation, and collaboration - and to enjoy a delightful boat tour along the River Seine, because why not! In 2024, we had the privilege of partnering with incredible organisations like Quadrature Climate Foundation, Media Freedom Coalition hosted under Thomson Reuters Foundation, Mercy Corps, PULSE GROUP, ICCROM and Free Press Unlimited, among others, while deepening our collaborations with trusted partners such as Internews, UNESCO, Agence Française de Développement, Danish Refugee Council / Dansk Flygtningehjælp, and IUCN. Together, we’ve strengthened our expertise in media freedom, sports for development, gender and youth programming, and cultural heritage, to name just a few. This year also marked the launch of Aleph Products and Aleph Training, initiatives designed to democratise access to simple and effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning tools for development organisations worldwide. A huge thank you to all our partners and collaborators for making this year meaningful. From all of us at Aleph Strategies , we wish you happy holidays and a wonderful start to the new year! 🌍🎉 In the picture: Daniel Skillings, Asra Memon, Chiara Fall, Ivana Jiménez Barrios, Jonathan Rider. We missed our colleague, Xavier Lewis Rodriguez! #AlephStrategies #AlephWrapped #Growth #HappyNewYear

📺 Curious to see SR-Tiget scientists on air? Like every year, many researchers of our community will speak about #genetherapy and #rarediseases during the Fondazione Telethon fundraising TV marathon starting tomorrow. Communicating science to the general public is an essential part of the role of scientists and a skill of pivotal importance that is often not nurtured enough. If you as researcher have the chance to be involved in #publicengagement activities, do not miss the opportunity to increase public understanding of science and #inspire future generations of scientists! 👇 Find below the schedule of events with the contribution of SR-Tiget scientists

This week is National NAIDOC Week and a time for us to celebrate the rich cultural heritage, achievements, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. NAIDOC Week dates back to 1938 when Aboriginal leaders gathered for the Day of Mourning, calling for full citizenship status and improved lives for First Nations people. Join us in celebrating all First Nations people as the first people to live on the beautiful lands on which we reside, and the ongoing excellence of First Nations communities who have over 60,000 years of knowledge and connection to Country. The 2024 NAIDOC theme is ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Black, Loud & Proud’, a call to honour the enduring spirit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. As acknowledged in the Australian Government's National Strategic Action Plan for Rare Diseases, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are a priority population of the rare disease sector. While Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are not necessarily at greater risk of rare diseases, several factors increase the potential impact of rare diseases on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The lack of research into rare diseases means our knowledge on which rare diseases are most prevalent among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is incomplete. Given the genetic basis of most rare diseases, research exploring this is vital. To explore history, connect with local communities, and support First Nations artists and businesses, search your local NAIDOC Week events here: https://brnw.ch/21wL9PU #NAIDOC2024 #NAIDOCWeek

The kick-off meeting of the EUnetCCC joint action is taking place. As mentioned recently by the Italian Minister of Health during the closing session of JANE- EU Joint Action on Networks of Expertise on Cancer, JANE-2 will develop the "software" (Networks of Experts on Cancer) necessary to support the "hardware" (Comprehensive Cancer Centres) development fostered under the EUnetCCC/CraNE Join Action. Together, these two actions, in which I'm happy to represent the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto, will establish the framework for the future of collaborative cancer care and research across Europe. #EUCancerPlan #EUBeatingCancer Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto Direção-Geral da Saúde CINTESIS - Center for Health Technology and Services Research RISE - Health Research Network
