30-55% of Czechs and Slovaks receive at least one chain email per week. This is not something that exclusively concerns senior citizens. The work of independent researchers and analysts who study content that has a potential to cause harm to individuals, groups of people or the whole society is indispensable for democracy. 💪 However, data avalibility is still an issue, especially on social platforms.The degree of data openness, including the choice of which data is available for research purposes and in what form (API, dashboard, etc.), has been dependent on each platform's decision The introduction of the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) has created new opportunities in this respect, outlining procedures under which researchers should be able to get access to data. 🇪🇺 The new analysis conducted by GLOBSEC collected 54 responses from experts, think tanks, academic institutions, and research organizations—primarily across Europe—to assess the current state of data access for research. 📊📈 You can read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eptffPSn #globsec #edmo

📢 The absence of adequate data access for researchers monitoring, analysing, and countering #disinformation diminishes situational awareness, hampers swift response mechanisms, and should be recognised as a security threat. The EU Commission’s Delegated Regulation on data access under the Digital Services Act is a key opportunity to address this issue.
