🌟 Embrace the Uncomfortable Challenge 🌟 Inspired by Nedd Brockmann's extraordinary feat of running 1,000 miles in just 12 days to raise funds for homelessness in Australia, I believe it's a powerful reminder of the importance of pushing our limits and challenging ourselves. Growth often occurs outside our comfort zones, whether it's taking on a new project, starting a fitness routine, or having a tough conversation. Nedd's journey showcases the transformative power of embracing challenges. As he nears the end of his remarkable endeavor today, let's reflect on his accomplishments and draw inspiration from his resilience. The Uncomfortable Challenge doesn't stop with Nedd; from October 20 to 29, he invites everyone to embark on their own challenges to support critical funds for homelessness. It's an opportunity to make a difference, foster community support, and cultivate resilience by committing to a personal or physical challenge for 10 consecutive days. Join in and be part of this impactful initiative! #NeddsUncomfortableChallenge #ChallengeYourself #GrowthMindset #MakeADifference 🔗 Learn more and participate in the Uncomfortable Challenge: https://lnkd.in/gbfHZRzA

1000 miles around a 400m track in 12 days 🏃♂️ This was Nedd Brockmann's result from his latest challenge, and raised over $3 million for homelessness. His run from Perth to Bondi in 2022 was not enough. More was to be done, and he was right. In 2021, over 120,000 Australians were experiencing homelessness, and this is just one of the many complex issues that we face globally. I believe that only a society that is truly united and inspired to make change can we then solve issues like homelessness or climate change. Part two of Nedd's mission is to encourage others to take up Nedd's Uncomfortable Challenge, where anyone can choose to do something uncomfortable for 10 days and raise money for the charity Mobilise to support homelessness in Australia. The uncomfortable challenge I have taken up is to wake up at 4AM every day for 10 days. While waking up early hasn't been too much of an issue for me as a personal trainer, that extra step of getting up in the dark and now in the cold of London, and even on weekends is uncomfortable. If you would like to be part of Nedd's $10 million fundraising goal for homelessness and support me doing this uncomfortable challenge, you can donate using the link here below. Any donation size, no matter how big or small, can help make a difference ✌️ #homelessnessaustralia #uncomfortablechallenge #4amclub

What better way to re-acquaint yourself with the Irish weather than participating in a sleep-out? On a more serious note, Ireland is a very different place than the country I left 15 years ago, and has made so much progress across so many economic and societal dimensions. Sadly, addressing homelessness is not one of them, and this is now a much more prevalent issue than it was when I left these shores. As we all know this is a complex issue and in 2024, there are over 14,000 people in homelessness across Ireland, including more than 4,000 children. An organization that is making a meaningful difference in tacking this problem is Focus Ireland. In 2023, Focus Ireland supported 18,000+ people, with 1,100 Households exiting homelessness, and 1,200 additional Households assisted in keeping their home. To help them make an even bigger contribution in the future, I’ll be taking part in a nationwide sleep-out alongside hundreds of others for their ‘Shine A Light’ campaign. This initiative aims to raise essential funds and awareness for the thousands of people, including children and families, who are facing homelessness. If you’d like to support this important cause, please click the below link. Thank you! focusireland's Shine A Light, proudly supported by Bord Gáis Energy. You can sign up to participate in Shine A Light or donate towards my fundraising target on my fundraising page below: https://lnkd.in/dEwhAyzk #SleepOutAgainstHomelessness

Private investors are able to profit from the homelessness crisis to help solve it by investing in supported housing. What this means is that the government funds a series of housing providers, charities, and care companies to provide care and housing for vulnerable people in society. These people could be homeless, victims of domestic abuse, ex-addicts in recovery, children leaving care, asylum seekers across the whole spectrum. There’s a funding package from the government to house and care for these people. The care providers that are funded to do this need houses to put the people in. Where this intersects perfectly is, as in investors, we’re able to buy these properties and then lease them to the care providers. That in turn, gives us a government-assured income whilst at the same time, delivering a much-needed service to those people who need it by providing housing. We find ourselves in a really fortunate position with this because we are in a business that: 1. Makes profit. 2. Makes a material social impact.

Did you know that there are more homeless children in the UK now, than there are people in Ipswich? The number of homeless children in the UK is at a record high. Last week the BBC reported that there are 151,630 young people in this country without a stable home. These rising figures clearly signify an urgent need to reform our overstretched social care system. Now more than ever, investment in charities like The Big House can help to intervene and alleviate the problem. 50% of the young people who come to The Big House do not have a stable home. Part of our mandate is in supporting them to find secure housing. Through a combination of direct advocacy/advice and addressing tangible barriers, we ensure post the completion of a Big House project, 100% of those who arrived homeless are in suitable, safe accommodation. Every person deserves a secure and safe place to call home. Jonathan is a tenant supported by St Petrocs. His story is a poignant reminder of how life can change in an instant, leading to unforeseen challenges such as homelessness. After the loss of his mother and subsequent eviction from their shared home, Jonathan found himself homeless. With the supportive network of our charity partners St Petrocs, Mustard Seed Property (MSP) provided him with more than just a roof over his head – we offered him a lifeline. “I now have an address so I can look for work and I have a safe home. It was a challenge sharing a house, but it’s the only answer when you have little hope of getting back into employment or housing.” Through our latest share offer, we aim to raise further investment to ensure more individuals like Jonathan in Cornwall can escape homelessness and reclaim their place in the community. Find out how to invest: https://lnkd.in/ejSaBPx2 This investment is not regulated by the FCA, nor covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) nor the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOR). The investment is not readily realisable, which means it may be difficult to sell and you may get back less than you originally invested, and returns are not guaranteed. #cornwall #homelessness #homelessnessawareness #safehome #supportedhousing #socialimpact #impactinvestment #impactinvesting #socialimpactinvesting #housingcrisis

This June, our CEO, Roger Dowling, will be joining business leaders across the country for the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, swapping his bed for cardboard to shine a light on homelessness in Australia. Why? Because action speaks louder than words when it comes to making a difference. For Roger, the choice to participate is deeply personal: 🏡 Gratitude: Blessed with a loving family and a thriving life in one of Australia’s most beautiful regions, Roger is driven by a spirit of gratitude. 🤝 Community: Surrounded by friends, associates, and a supportive network, he believes in leveraging this collective strength to foster change. 🛌 Empathy: Understanding that not everyone has a warm place to sleep, Roger stands in solidarity with those who face nights out in the cold. ⏳ Reflection: Approaching life’s milestones, Roger is moved to give back, embracing the ethos that life’s true value is realised through acts of kindness. 💡 Opportunity: He’s adamant that homelessness isn’t always a choice but a harsh reality for many, often requiring just a simple opportunity to turn lives around. Join Roger as he braves one of the coldest nights this winter under a cardboard box, all to raise funds and awareness for those experiencing homelessness. Every bit of support counts, from small individual donations to corporate contributions. Your donation can provide essential services like counselling, education, health, and stable accommodation to those in need. 👉 Support Roger and make a difference here: https://lnkd.in/gaRRGGQ7 Together, we can help break the cycle of homelessness and positively impact lives. Remember, a little help goes a long way. #Leadership #CommunitySupport #VinniesCEOsleepout #EndHomelessness

Happy #InternationalYouthDay! 🎉 Today, we celebrate our young people's strength, resilience, and creativity. But also bring to light the severity of youth homelessness. As of 2022/2023... ➡️ 135,800 16-24-year-olds were homeless or at risk of homelessness in the UK ➡️ 1 in 52 young people are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the UK ➡️ 67% of cases of homelessness in England were not successfully prevented or dealt with ➡️ this is a 5% increase from the previous year ➡️ 54% of these cases were as a result of family or friends no longer being willing or able to accommodate ➡️ 11% of these cases were as a result of domestic abuse Every day, alongside loads of other incredible charities, organisations and people, we are fighting to put an end to homelessness once and for all. That's why we need you.. our investors, partners and champions! So, to all the youth out there: keep shining bright and never stop dreaming!

Homelessness and its underlying causes are multifaceted. The term covers a range of situations, including people sleeping rough, single individuals living in emergency or temporary supported accommodation, households legally recognised as homeless and seeking assistance from local authorities, and the 'hidden homeless'—such as those ‘sofa surfing’. The growing homeless population presents considerable challenges for agencies striving to provide preventive support and interventions that address complex needs. This tool has been designed to assist practitioners from statutory bodies, charities, and third-sector organizations in gathering information in a way that enables lawful decision-making and fosters effective interventions. These interventions uphold key safeguarding principles, including empowering adults at risk to take steps to protect themselves.
