✈️Transforming Aviation at Manchester Airports Group✈️ Ever wonder how airports keep everything running smoothly, even with 60 million passengers passing through their gates each year? Manchester Airports Group (MAG) faced the challenge of providing top-notch customer experiences while juggling complex logistics and stringent regulations. That's where we flew in! At Equal Experts, we partnered with MAG (Airports Group) to develop a cutting-edge data integration strategy across their three airports—Manchester, London Stansted, and East Midlands. The mission? To streamline operations, enhance data management, and ensure passengers have a seamless journey from check-in to takeoff. 🛫 Previously, MAG's data was siloed, posing a challenge in communicating essential information to passengers and staff. We helped MAG to implement an innovative, event-driven platform using AWS native tooling, which now handles over 16,000 messages daily. This has significantly improved communication, ensuring everyone gets the right information at the right time and keeping the airport ecosystem in perfect sync. 🌐 Our approach included: 🔹 Building a scalable, centralised data system 🔹 Automating key services for consistent, real-time updates 🔹 Developing a non-functional requirements (NFR) matrix for future integrations Resulting in improved efficiency and operational resilience. MAG's CTO, John Hudson, praised the collaboration, noting that "a recent flight info integration took just half a day—down from nearly a week!" ✈️ Displaying business information within aircraft hangers... Loganair is Scotland’s airline. With its first flight in 1962, Loganair travels to destinations across Europe, Scandinavia and the British Isles. Based at Glasgow Airport, the airline has hubs throughout and is now the largest operator of domestic routes in, the UK. 🗣️Business Challenge Loganair needed a notice board accessible in all their hangars and sites to disseminate information to their employees. This information included national weather updates, internal communications, and file sharing. The objective was to create notices with predetermined durations, enabling them to remain active and rotate as needed. This system ensures that all employees can easily access the information across various sites on different screens. How Flyte helped: ✅Leverage a weather API to automatically generate a post containing weather updates for the UK, including any warnings that individuals should be aware of. ✅Enable users to create and edit posts, specifying the duration for which the post will remain active and indicating its level of importance. ✅Enable the upload of PDF files, store them in a designated location, and generate a QR code. Employees can then scan the QR code to access and navigate to the corresponding PDF on their devices. Had a great session with fellow panelist Javid Jaffer, Jek De Chavez-Hermida and Malith Ratwatta with great moderation by R. Kat Morse at the Aviation Festival Asia in Singapore to discuss "how can airlines scale up their use of data platforms and analytics to balance resources and improve operations?" A summary of OAG's thought leadership shared on the panel included: Aviation is a complex series of moving parts that require smooth interconnection and every day, we at OAG help businesses across the world grow and innovate with access to high-quality travel data that includes schedules, fares/pricing, flight status and traffic data to analyse the travel ecosystem in the following areas of operational efficiency, customer experience enhancement, revenue and route planning optimisation. Migration to cloud-based platforms offers airlines numerous benefits, including cost savings, operational efficiency, enhanced security, and the ability to innovate and adapt to changing market conditions more effectively. As a result, many airlines are increasingly embracing cloud computing as a strategic imperative for their digital transformation efforts. Airlines are transitioning from traditional data systems to cloud-based platforms for several reasons: scalability, cost-effectiveness, flexibility and agility, data accessibility, business continuity and innovation and competitiveness. Cloud computing enables airlines to leverage emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and predictive analytics more easily. By harnessing these technologies, airlines can innovate faster, improve operational efficiency, and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving industry. The pace at which airlines are embracing collaborative data initiatives varies depending on factors such as organisational culture, technological readiness, and regulatory requirements. Some airlines have been early adopters of data sharing practices, leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning algorithms to derive insights from large datasets. Others are gradually embracing data sharing as they recognise the benefits and overcome barriers such as data silos and privacy concerns. Overall, the aviation industry is moving towards a more open approach to data sharing, driven by the recognition that collaboration and shared insights can lead to safer, more efficient, and more sustainable operations. However, challenges remain, including data standardisation, interoperability, and cybersecurity, which will need to be addressed to fully realise the potential of data sharing in aviation. #aviation #airlines #digitaltransformation #dataanalytics #traveltech #oag

Airlines are transforming into software-centric companies, developing new digital products to enhance passenger experience and streamline operations. The impact is profound: researchers predict that by 2026, a significant portion of revenue for the largest global organizations will come from digital products, services, and experiences. From improving booking systems to elevating in-flight services, many airlines are leveraging internally developed software applications to differentiate themselves in a competitive market. This strategic shift is not just a trend; it is a substantial driver of revenue and return on investment (ROI). The rewards are remarkable. A recent global IBV study reveals that organizations are seeing impressive ROI on both new and existing digital product enhancements. These results highlight the transformative potential of digital innovations as key revenue and ROI drivers. In today’s digital era, the integration and innovation of digital products are essential for airlines aiming to stand out and achieve sustainable growth. Embracing this journey toward becoming a software-centric airline is challenging but undeniably rewarding. #Aviation #DigitalTransformation #Innovation #AirlineIndustry #ROI #CustomerExperience

𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿? 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆? 🛫 Often, passengers have a choice between different airports. Their travel experiences are a major determining factor for their airport of choice. We all know that one airport that you'd rather avoid, right? So, how can airports enhance the passenger experience while boosting economic growth? Airports operate often in silos, leading to inefficiencies. These inefficiencies oppose passenger experience and growth (long queues etc.) Integration of planning processes is the key here. By integrating planning across different stakeholders — e.g. airlines, security personnel, airport handlers, catering services—airports can ensure a seamless flow of operations. Integration of processes minimizes passenger wait times hence this is key to become the passenger’s airport of choice. To remain profitable, airports should focus to optimize the passenger experience at the lowest operational cost. Our team offers a broad experience in providing AI powered integrated planning solutions, based on the best possible planning technology in the market. For airports this often is the DELMIA Quintiq planning platform of Dassault Systèmes. The planning platform is used by multiple airports including Brussels Airport, Gatwick, Copenhagen Airport and Fraport. My colleague Kris Van Marcke wrote an interesting blog about this topic - explaining how Airports can optimize their experience for passengers. 🔗 Dive into the expert analysis on total Airport experience https://lnkd.in/eZ3bdDH2 Elevate your understanding of airport efficiency today! #PassengerExperience #IntegratedPlanning #AirportOperations #EconomicImpact #SopraSteria #ThoughtLeadership
