Expenses are expected to grow by 4.0% to $940 billion. “We’re expecting airlines to deliver a global profit of $36.6 billion in 2025. This will be hard-earned as airlines take advantage of lower oil prices while keeping load factors above 83%, tightly controlling costs, investing in decarbonization, and managing the return to more normal growth levels following the extraordinary pandemic recovery. All these efforts will help to mitigate several drags on profitability which are outside of airlines’ control,” said Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General. While not all regions will show increased net profits in 2024, every region will see growth in their bottom lines in 2025, culminating in USD 36.6 billion for the #industry. North America continues to dominate in terms of absolute net profit results. However, it is the only region that has yet to match its pre-pandemic profitability levels, due mainly to the low-cost segment. Europe has been facing numerous challenges in 2024, including rising wages, fleet groundings, noise-related flight restrictions, and higher airport charges and national taxes. Profits will decrease slightly to USD 10 billion in 2024, representing a net margin of 3.9%. However, 2025 should benefit from healthy growth in RPKs at 7%, helped by the expected improvement in the LCCs. The IATA World Data Symposium, hosted by Aer Lingus will take place in Dublin, Ireland on February 26-27, 2025. #IATAWDS will showcase the forefront of data, technology, and cybersecurity within #aviation, fostering collaboration and driving transformative change. "Data and technology are revolutionising how we operate in many aspects of our lives, and the aviation industry is no different. The pace and scale of change enabled by digital over the last five years has surpassed anything from the previous 20 years. We are able to better understand our customers, optimise our processes, and use data to drive better decisions in real time. Yet what we have seen to date is only the tip of the iceberg. The applications of emerging technologies like AI, machine learning and robotics are still at an early stage and will continue to drive real changes in the aviation industry.” said Lynne Embleton, CEO, Aer Lingus. The #airport capacity crunch is threatening the freedom for people to travel, and constraining economies. With little prospect for airport infrastructure to fully keep pace with growing demand, we released a White Paper incl. proposals for how #slot regulations must incentivize airports to generate more capacity from existing infrastructure. “The only cure for insufficient capacity is construction. But as long as large-scale endeavors such as building new runways or terminals remain politically out-of-reach in many parts of the world, we must squeeze every last unit of capacity out of the infrastructure we have. Some airports set strong benchmarks for maximizing capacity, but too many fail to follow the guidance in the Worldwide Airport Slot Guidelines,” said Nick Careen, IATA’s SVP for Operations, Safety and Security. Congratulations to LOT Cargo for achieving another key milestone in CEIV Certification for perishable goods 👏
👑1, 2, and… 3! LOT Cargo on the path to the Crown!👑 As of December 12, 2024, LOT Cargo proudly holds three IATA CEIV certifications, showcasing our commitment to the highest industry standards. We began our journey with IATA CEIV PHARMA, ensuring excellence in pharmaceutical logistics. Then came IATA CEIV LITHIUM BATTERIES, highlighting our expertise in handling lithium batteries and dangerous goods overall. Now, we’ve achieved IATA CEIV FRESH, a critical milestone for the safe and efficient transport of perishable goods. This certification is more than just a badge - it represents our dedication to equipping airlines and all supply chain partners with the knowledge and capabilities to maintain optimal transport conditions, ensuring that every shipment arrives in perfect condition. But our journey doesn’t stop here. In early 2025, we’re embarking on our next and final challenge from the CEIV category: achieving the IATA CEIV LIVE ANIMALS certification. Stay tuned as we continue to raise the bar in air cargo excellence!
