While substantial research has examined the health impacts of community gardens, it’s just as important to find out what it takes to help new community gardeners succeed. New research examines the experiences of new community gardeners, identifying ways to enhance their success. This week is Community Garden Week! I love a community garden because while each gardener has a space, all the gardeners work together to provide food and beauty to the community. Each person brings their expertise and their green thumb to benefit everyone. In many ways, your team is like a community gardern. Each person is contributing to the greater good by bringing their unique talents and expertise. No one can do it all. We need each other to accomplish our goals and the goals of our businesses. This week, reflect on what you bring to your team that is unique. What do you contribute that would be absent if you weren't there? What I love about being a #strengthscoach is that I get to help people discover what they bring that is unique and help them develop those super powers to help them in all areas of their lives. If you are struggling to identify your talents or are not quite sure how to develop them, book a discovery call with me to discuss.

At Nurseline Community Services, we believe in the power of humanised person-centred care. It’s all about supporting each person in ways that respect their pace, preferences, and unique needs. In recent months, we’ve seen some meaningful progress, and I wanted to share a few highlights from the incredible journeys of those we support: 👉 One person has started to explore their passion for gardening, taking the lead on how they’d like to shape their outdoor space. It’s been great to see their vision come to life with support from our team. 👉 Another person recently transitioned from the hospital to their new home, settling into a more comfortable and independent living environment. 👉 With continued support, one person has been reducing the assistance needed to access their community, working towards greater independence—a significant milestone in their journey. 👉 We’ve also seen progress in personal care and self-empowerment, like one person taking new steps towards maintaining their own space and routine. Milestones like these remind us that people can reach their goals with the right support, no matter how big or small. We look forward to seeing even more milestones in the coming months as we continue to focus on tailored, person-centred care. #transformingcare #communitysupport #independence #personcentredcare #pbs #positivebehavioursupport

🌿 At Glendale, we know the importance of looking out for one another, especially in the workplace. That’s why we’re proud to support Perennial in their mission to help people in horticulture. Sometimes, simply taking the time to talk and checking in with a colleague can make all the difference. Remember, a simple chat can go a long way. Whether it’s over a cuppa or during a break, your support matters. Don’t forget: asking twice shows you care, and it’s okay to not have all the answers—starting the conversation is the first step. If you feel a colleague would benefit from further support, encourage them to speak to their employer, GP, or reach out to the Samaritans. 💡 Why Urban Survival Skills Matter: Resourcefulness: City dwellers have unique challenges and resources. Learning how to utilize what's available in an urban setting can keep you safe and prepared. Self-Reliance: With the right skills, you can reduce your dependency on external systems, which can be vulnerable during emergencies. Community Building: Urban prepping isn't just about individual survival. It's about building resilient communities that can support each other. 🌱 Homesteading & Food Foraging in the City: You don't need acres of land to grow your own food. Urban gardening and food foraging are great ways to ensure you have fresh produce. Plus, it's a fantastic activity to involve kids in. Teaching children how to grow their own food and identify edible plants is not only fun but also an essential life skill. 🗺️ Skills Every Kid Should Learn This Summer: Why not make this summer unforgettable for your kids by enrolling them in survival skills workshops? Wanted to share with you one of our latest murals designed to be a backdrop for gardening-based activities and just as a general “feel good” visual. Designed to be installed above chair rails, it comes in three sizes 15 ft, 12ft and 10ft wide by 5ft tall. Many residents in care have fewer opportunities to engage with the outdoors as they would wish. Many studies have shown that even a virtual engagement with nature, such as this, can lead to positive outcomes with stress reduction and attention restoration. Here’s to the great outdoors! #recreationaltherapy,#behavioursupports,#behaviorsupports,#behavioursupportsontario,#psychogeriatricresourceconsultants,#hospitalenvironments,#hospicecare,#hospitalalc,#ltc,#longtermcare
