RALV in the Innovation Corner at the Technical Museum Vienna The presentation format "Innovation Corner" at the Vienna Technical Museum offers a platform to present Austrian start-ups on a quarterly basis that achieve outstanding achievements in a wide variety of scientific fields. In the current round ten projects from the fields of medical technology and life sciences are presented. The thematic spectrum was created in cooperation with the Lower Austrian technology financing company tecnet equity and the technology incubator accent. The RALV device was also selected to be presented in the Innovation Corner of the Vienna Technical Museum. The exhibition "Innovations in Medical Technology and Life Sciences" will be on display from June 3 to September 29, 2024. With increasing age, the eye loses the ability to adapt to different distances of vision. This presbyopia is mainly caused by a hardening of the natural lens of the eye. The replacement of the natural lens with an artificial lens can provide relief. It is important to find the best lens model for each patient before surgery. RALV allows presbyopic patients to experience preoperative vision through true intraocular lenses (IOL) to experience postoperative vision with an IOL before the implantation. ACMIT developed the RALV optical system in collaboration with 1stQ Deutschland GmbH, an internationally renowned manufacturer of intraocular lenses. The further development and marketing are carried out by the newly founded spin-off company DEZIMAL GmbH. FaserNAV Heart catheters meet electrocardiogram. Novel compatibility and impact. The first trend we observe in the medical field is #minimallyinvasive #surgery. It experiences higher demand from both patients and physicians. The second trend goes towards procedures carried out by automated robotic devices. Both approaches are made possible by innovative #sensing solutions to support and monitor key procedure parameters. #Optical #glass #fibers are an ideal candidate for novel sensor systems due to their inherent properties: made of glass, immune to radiation and small dimensions. Today we are proud to introduce our latest research project: FaserNAV FaserNAV is a joint project between FBGS - Tailored Fiber Optic Sensing Components & Solutions and the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology aiming to develop a novel fiber optic probe that enables intrinsic catheter and instrument navigation without the aid of radiation-based imaging techniques (X-ray). The measurement of cardiac currents (#electrocardiogram, ECG) is key to diagnose many diseases, but its modification is also a recognized method for localizing catheters in the heart. A combination of fiber optic navigation probe and #ECG paves the way for a completely new approach to radiation-free imaging. This requires the development of innovative solutions for the optical fiber, the generation of the sensors and their evaluation. Therefore, we have created the FaserNAV project. This research represents a significant step forward in #catheter #navigation, offering promising opportunities in both trends and improving patient outcomes. The FaserNAV project on which these results are based was funded by the Free State of Thuringia under the number 2023 VFE 0042 and co-financed by the European Union as part of the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE). #robotics

#LentitechTechnologies takes a further step in the evolution of its disruptive technology After the development of the Ergofocus System, the Ergofocus PLUS System and Vision PLUS, now comes the new Ergofocus PLUS Diffractor Module, completing the range of systems and processes for centring progressive lenses based on the visual axis and the centre of ocular rotation, which represent a real paradigm shift in the optical sector. All of them are the result of the intense activity that the company has carried out over the last five years in the field of R+D+i. The first of the developments, the Ergofocus System, was launched in 2019, just before the global coronavirus pandemic caused a global shutdown. It was a revolutionary progressive lens centration system, based on the visual axis, diffraction phenomena and inertial measurements. In 2023, with the effects of COVID over, Lentitech Technologies launched #ErgofocusPLUS, which incorporated new features and measurement fields, and simplified technical support. In 2024, two major events took place: the introduction of Vision PLUS, a new direct diffraction technology that can be used in demo lenses for all makes and models of spectacles; and the introduction of the new user-friendly Ergofocus Diffractor Module, which substantially reduces measurement time, speeds up the process and makes it more intuitive. It is applicable to all spectacle models on the market, including sports and sunglasses. ErgoFocus systems are unique in the world and hold international patents in more than 20 countries. They also have Certificates of Excellence for Technological Innovation awarded by the European Commission. Its benefits have been proven through a scientific study carried out by the Institute of Applied Ophthalmology and Biology (Ioba UVa) of the University of Valladolid, and published in Nature Portfolio.

As we hit the #RoadToEurope we’re showcasing the innovators from around the globe who are selected to present at #LSIEurope24. Today we’re showcasing 3 innovators in Spain selected to present at LSI Europe ‘24 in Portugal: 1. Jorge Presa — Cyber Surgery → Developed ALAYA, a first of its kind, modular innovative robotic navigation for multipurpose and seamless spinal procedures. ALAYA’s patented technology allows surgeons to achieve the highest levels of precision, to perform minimally invasive spinal operations, reducing risk and patient recovery times. 2. Pablo Fernández Echeverría — Polimerbio → Focused on the research, development, and manufacture of biodegradable medical devices based on the company's extensive knowledge and experience in polymer chemistry. Within the company's portfolio of products in development are a biodegradable stent for the treatment of urethral stricture and scaffolds for the regeneration of spinal cord injuries. 3. Oriol Iborra Egea — NIMBLE Diagnostics → The NIMBLE System, is a first-in-class, non-invasive, non-ionizing microwave-based technology that enables cardiologists to obtain objective data about the status of coronary stents. This allows cardiologists to take control of their patients with heart failure, providing objective data through a convenient, non-invasive technology, aiming to save millions of lives. We look forward to seeing these innovators take the stage this September 16th - 20th in Portugal. Want to see what other innovators are presenting at LSI Europe ‘24? ACMIT at the “Long Night of Research 2024” (LNF 2024) The “Long Night of Research” will take place on 24th of May, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at over 270 exhibition locations across Austria, featuring over 2,800 stations, guided tours, workshops, lectures and experiments to watch and take part in free of charge. Researchers present their achievements from the areas of society, the environment and health to natural sciences, technology, energy, economy, digitization and culture. The focus of the ACMIT exhibition this year is on application-oriented anatomical models. ACMIT will be represented by Dipl.-Ing. Christoph Kment and Stefan Koschitz MSc. at the station (WN:1-30) with the title: “How can realistic anatomical models be created for training surgical procedures?” in the section A of TFZ Technology and Research Center, Wiener Neustadt. Anatomical models significantly reduce the number of cadaver tests needed in the development of medical devices as well as provide an advanced solution for education of clinicians. Based on patient-specific manufactured models, complex surgeries can be trained and optimized to improve patient safety. At the ACMIT stand, examples of realistic models will be shown and the manufacturing processes will be explained. The new DentoSkull™ implantology training model for maxillofacial and augmentative surgery will be particularly impressive. In addition, the topic is presented in a short video. Research enthusiasts of all ages are invited to gain insights into ACMIT’s research!
