November 2024 marks the beginning of my fourth year with Coca-Cola beverages Uganda Ltd. The three years have exposed me to three challenges to start with, the Account developer challenge, Ag Area Sales Manager and currently Ag Key Accounts Manager. Exposure, stepping up, taking charge and learning at every opportunity available have been the key highlights. I can with confidence claim to have become an all-round proven professional, one key skill i would like to highlight is the continuous stakeholder management skill development that comes with working with the roles. I believe this is one of those skills highly ignored but very vital for all professionals to ensure efficiency while at the job.

🌙 Supporting Staff During Ramadan 🌙 During Ramadan, managers play a vital role in creating an inclusive workplace environment, and supporting their staff during their celebration. Here's some ideas on how you can better support staff that are celebrating during this time: -Flexibility: Recognize that fasting during Ramadan may impact your team members' energy levels and productivity. Offer flexible working hours or the option to work remotely to accommodate their needs. If this is not an option, be mindful of the time they may need to take in order to observe this period as they need, and extend invitations to take time away to pray, or break fast where you can. -Awareness: Take the time to educate yourself and your team about the significance of Ramadan and its customs. Encourage open dialogue and create a culture of understanding and respect for different religious beliefs and practices. -Accommodation: Be mindful of scheduling meetings or events that involve food during fasting hours. Consider scheduling important meetings earlier in the day or after Iftar (the breaking of the fast) to ensure all team members can fully participate. -Support: Check in with your staff regularly to see how they're managing during Ramadan. Offer your support and reassurance, and be proactive in addressing any concerns or challenges they may be facing. -Celebration: Embrace the spirit of Ramadan by organizing inclusive activities or events for your team to participate in. Hello connections I wanna share an insight here, please read through. Working in a company like Post Courier has taught me the importance of meeting deadlines and making the most of my time. Every day, I’m challenged to be productive and deliver results, and there’s a unique sense of satisfaction that comes with going home knowing you’ve accomplished something meaningful. This sense of purpose and dedication is often more pronounced in private companies, where employees are committed to their duties and driven by accountability. In contrast, I’ve observed that in some government institutions, there’s a tendency for time to be misused, and work is not always approached with the same level of urgency or dedication. Imagine if everyone, across all sectors, approached their work with the same passion, discipline, and focus on results. If every employee – whether in the public or private sector – committed to creating meaningful outcomes each day, the impact would be transformative. Organizations would thrive, departments would exceed expectations, and ultimately, Papua New Guinea would develop at a much faster pace. It’s not just about showing up; it’s about showing up with purpose. Together, if we adopt this mindset, we can collectively drive change and progress for our nation. Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating! Hereby two parts, first with highly personal tips and tricks for working whilst fasting and second more of personal reflection 1. It’s not easy to restrain from eating and drinking whilst working and keeping up with daily routines. And of course, it impacts the overall performance during the day. But to ensure I don’t fall behind on any task or performance I did following: - Balanced my energy to run heaviest tasks in the morning, when having most energy - Saved some work for the evenings, after breaking my fasting – Thanks to our flexible working at Unilever it can be managed sometimes. - I worked from home a couple more days than usual. - Didn’t fast when having workshops or days where I knew others are dependent on my personal energy. (Personal choice of mine) - Used some of my holidays during Ramadan #EnergyManagement #Prioritization #FlexibleWorkingAndMind #BeConsiderateToOthers 2. Surprise - Ramadan is NOT all about food and drinks…Its about physical and mental cleansing, but also spiritual connection and doing well for yourself and others. To take a step back and reflect and being grateful of what you have. I didn’t do enough of the spiritual part, but I have a plan 😉 But did a lot of reflection – exiting this month with so much gratitude - for my family, friends, my work (16 years of opportunities and growth!) Lastly, this year has been different – the ongoing war in the Middle East is tragic and heartbreaking. We have seen far too much death, displacement, and hate… In the spirit of Ramadan – I hope next year will be more about building futures rather than ending them.  

💗 Supporting those in the workplace during Ramadan. Today marks the 12th day of Ramadan here in the UK. If you have colleagues or friends who celebrate, here are a few ways you can show your support: 👇🏼 🗓 Scheduling Meetings - Try to make sure these are scheduled for mornings / early afternoon to ensure your colleagues have the highest energy levels, - Avoid setting meetings around iftar - Post-fast meal where Muslims will gather with friends and family to eat and celebrate. 🤸♀️ Be Flexible. - Now, I don't mean start cartwheeling or doing the splits around the office (although this would help the day go faster!) - Allow your colleagues time and more regular breaks when needed. 🗣 Talk. Educate yourself and those around you. - As a non-Muslim, I've learned a lot just through talking. Having open discussions and being able to allow myself to improve. (I've still got a long way to go!) - If someone doesn't want to talk about a certain topic however, remain respectful. There are so so many ways you can show your support during Ramadan! What about the recently launched 3 day "NestGen" virtual e-learning festival for young professionals? These initiatives are all about nurturing the skills of young individuals. 🌞Further more, Nestlé is committed to inspiring inclusion with its disability program, providing a supportive environment for differently abled individuals. Ramadan Kareem Ramadan is celebrated in different ways- not all Muslims fast, some may fast daily others may fast more sporadically, and some not at all. It is a personal choice. As always awareness is key! Please do not assume what your employee's needs are. Communication is a building block to cultivate meaningful connections with your employees and provide opportunities where they can openly and safely discuss their needs with you. How can we support you during Ramadan? The energy level often decreases for those who are fasting, the circadian rhythm changes and some evenings may be longer due to community activity. However, what surprised me was "Unilever Future Leaders Programme 2024 – Finance" is being listed with comprehensive descriptions in countries like Israel and Thailand, yet Unilever Pakistan not provide comprehensive descriptions of the same programme! 🤔   It's disheartening to see that Unilever Pakistan hasn't provided the same level of transparency. As someone deeply interested in joining a forward-thinking organization like Unilever, I believe transparency in job descriptions is crucial for candidates to make informed decisions about their careers.   Transparency fosters trust and helps candidates understand what they're signing up for. It also reflects the organization's commitment to providing equal opportunities and ensuring clarity in the recruitment process.   🌐 I hope Unilever Pakistan takes note of this and updates the job description to provide aspiring finance professionals with the same level of information as their counterparts in other countries.
