Hello connections I wanna share an insight here, please read through. Working in a company like Post Courier has taught me the importance of meeting deadlines and making the most of my time. Every day, I’m challenged to be productive and deliver results, and there’s a unique sense of satisfaction that comes with going home knowing you’ve accomplished something meaningful. This sense of purpose and dedication is often more pronounced in private companies, where employees are committed to their duties and driven by accountability. In contrast, I’ve observed that in some government institutions, there’s a tendency for time to be misused, and work is not always approached with the same level of urgency or dedication. Imagine if everyone, across all sectors, approached their work with the same passion, discipline, and focus on results. If every employee – whether in the public or private sector – committed to creating meaningful outcomes each day, the impact would be transformative. Organizations would thrive, departments would exceed expectations, and ultimately, Papua New Guinea would develop at a much faster pace. It’s not just about showing up; it’s about showing up with purpose. Together, if we adopt this mindset, we can collectively drive change and progress for our nation. Let’s strive to make every day count and create a better future for PNG through dedication and hard work. Merry Christmas and Happy new year to you all. 🎄💯

To all the young people in Papua New Guinea of my age and younger ones, I want to share some important advice on the value of time and how you can contribute meaningfully to your personal goals and the development of our country. Time is our most valuable resource. Each day, we grow older, and we cannot get back even a single second that has passed. It's crucial to recognize this and make the most of every moment we have. Here are a few ways you can do this: 1. Set Clear Goals: Define what you want to achieve in your life and career. Having clear goals will give you direction and purpose. Break these goals down into smaller, manageable tasks, and work on them consistently. 2. Prioritize Your Time: Focus on activities that bring you closer to your goals. Avoid distractions and time-wasting habits. Develop a daily routine that maximizes productivity and keeps you on track. 3. Continuous Learning: Invest in your education and skills. The world is constantly changing, and staying updated with new knowledge and technologies will give you a competitive edge. Attend workshops, take online courses, and read extensively in your field. 4. Be Inclusive and Collaborative: The development of our country should not be left to a few individuals. We all have unique strengths and perspectives that can contribute to our nation's progress. Work together with others, share ideas, and support each other in your endeavors. 5. Reflect and Improve: Take time to reflect on your past experiences. Consider whether you have always done your best. Learn from your mistakes and successes, and use these lessons to improve continually. 6. Stay Positive and Resilient: Challenges and setbacks are part of life. Maintain a positive attitude and be resilient in the face of difficulties. Believe in your ability to overcome obstacles and stay committed to your goals. Remember, every small effort counts. By being diligent, focused, and collaborative, you can make significant contributions to your personal development and the growth of Papua New Guinea. Let's all strive to be the best we can be and work together for a brighter future. Top Friday to you all and God bless 😎🤩💯💪🇵🇬🇵🇬

Embracing PNG Culture and Customs Papua New Guinea (PNG) is a tapestry of rich cultures and traditions, woven together by the diverse languages, customs, and practices of its people. Our cultural heritage is a source of pride, a testament to our identity and connection to the land, our ancestors, and our communities. I hold a deep respect and love for our PNG culture, understanding that it embodies the values, beliefs, and stories that shape who we are. However, in recent times, there appears to be a growing trend where individuals feel pressured to impress others, particularly those from wealthier backgrounds. This pursuit of social status often leads to a disconnect from our true selves and the essence of our customs. While it’s natural to aspire for better opportunities, I question the necessity of trying to match the lifestyles of the affluent, especially when it comes at the expense of our own values and priorities. The rising cost of living, particularly due to inflation, has made it increasingly challenging to afford basic necessities. The pricing of food and other essentials strains our budgets and adds to our stress. In this context, the expectations surrounding bride price can feel overwhelming. We should not feel compelled to meet targets that may not align with our financial realities, especially when we have other important family priorities to consider. In our culture, family and community are paramount. They should take precedence over the desire to fit into a mold that doesn't resonate with our realities. The pressure to conform to a certain lifestyle can lead individuals to stretch their budgets, diverting resources away from essential family needs. It is crucial to recognize that the true essence of our customs lies not in extravagance, but in the meaningful connections we foster with one another. By prioritizing our families and communities, we honor our PNG customs in a way that is authentic and sustainable. We should celebrate our heritage without feeling the need to impress others. Let us embrace our identity, cherishing the simplicity and richness of our lives, and understanding that true fulfillment comes from within, not from the opinions of others. In conclusion, while I cherish our PNG culture and customs, I believe it is vital to resist the urge to measure our worth against the wealth of others. Instead, let’s focus on nurturing our families, preserving our traditions, and building a community that values authenticity over appearance.

Early on in my career I applied for my first job abroad, working for Shell in Gabon. One of the prerequisites of the application was having complete fluency in both English as well as French. At this point it had been 17 years since I had actively practiced and studied French, my competency in speaking it in professional environments was shaky to say the least.. so what did I do? Well, I was excited about the job and had faith in being a right fit. My uncertainty with the language didn’t deter me. I filled in the application with a resounding YES and just a few months later I found myself in Gabon with my family, thriving in the reality I had created for myself. I was leading a team of 23 French-speaking staff and as part of a major cost reduction and change process, I teamed up with the MD for biweekly townhall sessions in French and English to keep our employees and their families abreast of the changes being made and what it meant for them. All by the hand of youthful enthusiasm. The preservation of youthful enthusiasm is what can set you apart in your ability to thrive – especially as you get older. It is a timeless philosophy that transcends age boundaries. As we navigate through life, it's essential to hold onto the sense of excitement, curiosity, and passion that often characterizes youth. I don’t believe these qualities are meant to diminish with age – they're enduring and hold immense value throughout our lives. The notion of utilizing youthful enthusiasm in later years speaks volumes about the adaptability and resilience of the human psyche. It's a reminder that the energy and passion we cultivate in our youth can be channelled into meaningful pursuits and endeavours as we mature. Rather than viewing aging as a decline, it presents an opportunity for continued personal, professional, and intellectual growth. Youthful enthusiasm is the fuel for innovation, for creative thought, and continuous growth. Enthusiasm knows no age limit – it's a force that can inspire, motivate, and connect us across generations. So let's heed the call to hang onto our youthful enthusiasms – not as relics of the past, but as guiding lights illuminating the path to a vibrant and fulfilling future. Let's embrace the journey of lifelong learning and unlearning, personal growth, and intergenerational connections. #enthusiasm #youth #change #career #selfdevelopment #adaptability #learning #future

#COLUMN: In a fast-evolving society and progressive development, it is easy to forget your culture, values, language, and traditional lifestyle. 🌱 Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs in the Papua New Guinean Context 🇵🇬 This is from a class unit I've taken called "Supervision in the Workplace". It's about Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs which I found to be motivational so I wanted to share. I've picked few things in each of these needs that I think relates well together. Our communities are built around our culture, family, and common values. These things also show up in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, which helps us see what motivates people and what they need to do to succeed in life. 1. Basic needs (Food, water, and shelter) – we need food, clean water, and a place to live, whether we are in the city or the village. These are the first things we need to live a stable life. 2. Safety Needs (Health and Job Security) – we feel secure when we have a steady job and access to healthcare. Once we feel safe, we can think about the future. 3. Belonging (Community and family) – family and community are very important in PNG. Feeling connected to others gives us the strength and support we need. 4. Self-Esteem (Respect and Achievements) – it feels good when people recognize our hard work. Whether we're in the village or at work, being appreciated builds our confidence. 5. Self-Actualization (Personal growth and Purpose) – after meeting all these needs, we want to learn more, grow, and help those around us. This is about becoming the best version of ourselves.

MY REGRETS I would like to share one of my biggest regrets, hoping that young Papua New Guineans won't follow the same path. Coming from a typical village (rural) background, I was advised to study hard, get into university, secure a decent job, travel extensively, and embrace life while still young. The advice centered around escaping the challenges of a hardworking village lifestyle and forging a different path. With limited understanding of the world, my parents, like many others, aimed for us to reach a brighter future and explore beyond their experiences. A sweet and wise move indeed! Reflecting on those days, I wish I had been guided to: 1. Excel academically and strategically 2. Build a robust professional network while studying 3. Secure a quality job with a company or organization that fosters career development and offers good mentorship/leadership. Continue to build professional networks. 4. Establish personal integrity in my professional branding 5. Save diligently and explore personal strengths during free time (hustle) 6. Venture into entrepreneurship when the timing is right 7. Embrace failures as part of the journey, persisting to achieve significant progress by the age of 30 I gained these insights in my early 30s, and if I could advise those in their early 20s, I'd emphasize the privilege they have. Follow these steps, and you'll thank me later.
