AARP is fighting age discrimination in the U.S. at the federal level and in the court system. During a LinkedIn Live roundtable, Financial Security & Livable Communities Vice President Jenn Jones talks about how AARP is working with dedicated government employees to strengthen existing federal protections, and Senior Vice President of Litigation Bill Rivera explains how AARP Foundation pursues state and federal court cases to dismantle systemic, structural ageism. #agediscrimination #ageism #workforceageism #employeeageism

How AARP fights age discrimination? On a race by race basis! First Blacks, then Hispanics/Latinos, then women, then LGBTQ+, then ..., ..., ..., So good luck to you if you want to find you on the list.

Great work by AARP to tackle age discrimination and fight for stronger protections. Empowering older generations in the workforce! 💼

Well... All I'll say is good luck with that. Some of us have given up expectations of most of these businesses ever truly changing their behaviors or unconscious biases that results in discrimination of various forms. I don't want to discourage anyone from trying, because I think you should continue to fight, but I would also suggest to seriously consider working for yourself by starting your own business, whatever that may be for you and your skillset. You may have to start small, but start and stay focused. Let those who want to fight the corporation hiring and employment practices take on that fight, but in the meanwhile you still have to make a living. I'm just suggesting you make it worthwhile by creating your own business. You don't have to be Google you can be Gigi 😊 or Gary's Consultancy. Whatever it is you got what it takes.

AARP discriminatorily and illegally fired me because I am gay! I won my lawsuit, but they are still litigating their loss to hide the discrimination proven in court.

In March 2024, AARP was found guilty in a DC court of DISCRIMINATING against and illegally firing me because I am gay. They lost their first appeal. Less than 3 months later, AARP started an “age discrimination” campaign and filed a lawsuit against RTX. (You should know, AARP has had several age discrimination lawsuits filed against them in recent years). I believe it is to hide the fact that they were found guilty of discrimination, but want everyone to focus on others discrimination. This is so needed because at the end of the day it effects everyone. We all age and the grim reality is that ageism is socially acceptable in the USA and it has to change.

Age descrimination is real! Many baby boomers have much to offer yet they are having difficulty remaining in the workforce force even if they have the education and training required . It appears the block is at the hiring stage. The pandemic pushed many out of work yet trying to return to the workforce force even environment has been difficult for qualified persons over the age of 50 .
