🌟 Heartwarming Moments in Teaching! 🌟 Today, while preparing for our upcoming investiture ceremony, I asked one of my students for a quote. Initially at a loss for words, she didn't just come back with one but returned with a treasure trove of 50 thoughtful quotes! This gesture not only touched my heart but also underscored the deep bond we strive to cultivate with our students. Here are some ways we work towards building this connection: Listening Actively - We make it a point to listen to our students’ ideas, concerns, and suggestions. This shows that we value their contributions and respect their voices. Encouraging Expression - We encourage students to express their thoughts and feelings, whether through words, art, or other mediums. This reinforces their confidence and helps them feel seen and heard. Consistent Support - By being consistent in our support and guidance, we create a reliable and safe environment for our students. This reliability builds trust, a fundamental aspect of any strong relationship. Celebrating Individuality - Acknowledging and celebrating each student’s unique qualities and achievements fosters a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere. As educators, we are reminded daily of our role not just in teaching, but in nurturing the whole individual. Moments like these affirm that our students can thrive when given the trust and space to grow. A big thank you to my student, who went above and beyond! This is a beautiful reminder of why we teach and the impact we can have on nurturing young minds. 📚💫 #Education #Teaching #StudentSuccess #Inspirational #SafeLearningEnvironment

🌟 I need Your Help Reaching 5k Views!🌟 I'm thrilled to share something close to my heart with you all. I recently had the opportunity to dive into a discussion about higher education, student debt, and the mismatch between what we expect from our degrees and what we actually get. It's a topic that's so important to me, and I'd love your support in spreading the word! 🎥 Can you do me a favor? Please take a moment to watch the video until the end. Trust me, there's some valuable stuff in there! 👍 If you enjoy what you see (and I hope you do!), could you give it a thumbs up on YouTube? It really helps get the message out there. 💬 And hey, don't be shy! I want to hear your thoughts. Drop a comment on the video and let's start a conversation. Your perspective matters. 🔁 Oh, and one more thing! Sharing is caring, right? If you think this video could resonate with someone you know, please share it with them. Let's aim for 10k views together! 🚀 My mission is simple: to shift the focus from degrees to skills, from completion rates to essential skill mastery. It's a big goal, but with your help, I know we can make it happen. 🔗 Ready to join me on this journey? Click the link below to watch the full TEDx talk. We're hosting an online conference about uncertainty in education! You can apply to do a short talk. You can just participate in the discussions. You can apply to join our after-party where we are going to work on a statement paper based on our discussions or you can add to our annotated bibliography about uncertainty in education. Check out the details on our conference website. https://lnkd.in/gzn_QkBW When: July 16th-17th, 2024. Why: We think there are lots of reasons to be talking about uncertainty right now. 1. We're hearing from professional programs that students are struggling in their placements when asked to deal with problems that don't have right answers. They're struggling with uncertainty. 2. Those GenAI programs sure do seem to be getting all the 'right answer' problems right. People are going to be turning to them more and more. We think that we need more practice using our judgement. 3. We're not convinced that learning how to get answers 'right' is necessary good preparation for those situations where your values and your judgement are going to be necessary for making decisions. 4. Dealing with uncertainty in the classroom is more fun :). Why is the hashtag for this conference #shrugcon? There's a lot of uncertainty out there, the first step is accepting that you can't know everything.
