At the heart of every strong community are its people. Our Community Development Framework amplifies this strength by supporting community members to lead their projects based on their own priorities and cultural values. By focusing on assets (skills, culture, and aspirations), not deficits, we support sustainable changes that truly resonate with community needs. Community development is all about empowering individuals and groups to create positive change in their communities. It’s not just about fixing problems—it’s about building resilience, fostering connections, and creating opportunities for everyone to thrive. But community development doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, energy, and commitment from people at all levels of the community. It means listening to diverse voices, building trust, and working together toward a shared vision. If you’re passionate about making a difference in your community, consider getting involved in local organizations, volunteering your time and skills, or simply reaching out to your neighbors. Every small action can make a big impact when we work together. #CommunityDevelopment #Empowerment #SocialChange

Just came across this interesting article about the the concept of "predatory versus progressive community development." The article raises some eye-opening questions in the community development world, where we often pride ourselves on making a positive impact. Could our efforts to "help" ever be doing more harm than good? 💭 Predatory or Progressive? 💭 🤔 I'd love to hear thoughts from those in the community development space, what do you think? #CommunityDevelopment #SocialImpact #MunicipalEnquiry #FoodForThought

Can you clearly state your organization's theory of change for your community development efforts? Community development is about helping people and communities build better social outcomes despite complex and interconnected systems that make it difficult to advance. The most effective organizations know exactly how their metrics impact people in practical ways. Practice articulating the problem you are addressing in plain language. When you can state your purpose without industry buzzwords and funder-focused language, the next step is likely to become much clearer.
