I remember the days when I would sit with developers discussing the necessary information to make an API work. It was massive - is an understatement. Truly complicated and very expensive. Getting data from one app to another was a nightmare. And then those connector platforms arrived, in the EU they are still widely unknown and underused, meanwhile Make actually sits in the middle of Europe! It still has a bit of a learning curve, albeit a much flatter one. Nowadays I have discussions with myself (and the Make help files 😅 ) to make connections work, although AI obviously is also more and more helpful in this aspect of my work. With Make complex automated workflows involving several different apps still need time and knowledge to set up properly but you do not need a single line of code anymore. That is truly empowering and it's fun to figure scenarios out. 👻

When business people don't know what they want in the report... How to quickly iterate on reports in event-driven apps? It's often a challenge to understand business requirements when it comes to reports - often business is not sure what they want. The fastest way is to iterate and show them the reports based on the real data - when they see it, they can tell you what's wrong. With events, the solution is easy - just build a projection in a few lines of code. Deploy it (maybe behind a feature flag) and ask if it's right. The write a test that captures the business corrections. Fix the projection. Tests pass. Deploy and repeat. Once the business is happy with what they see, you can optimize it by turning this into a persisted read model. The tests stay the same, which is nice. Here is a simple projection shown on the problem of "how many times we had Tasks being reopen?" The business problem could be - detecting where and why (by whom?) we describe tasks insufficiently. https://lnkd.in/deMuxnux
