Requirements to rebrand or change the name of your LinkedIn or Showcase page

If you’re a super admin of a LinkedIn Page, you may need to make changes to the name of your Page or Showcase Page to clarify its business structure and entity information or reduce the name’s complexity. Depending on the reason for a Page name change, you may want to rebrand your Page by creating a new Page and requesting follower migration from your old Page.

Page name changes and rebranding

Type of name change Action needed
Minimal name change If your name change meets the minimal name change requirements and has a small number of associated employees, Page admins can change the name through the edit modal and by notifying employees of the change.
Large name change If your name change doesn’t meet the minimal name change requirements or has a large number of associated employees, an admin must contact us to make the change.
Rebranding If you have a small number of associated employees, you can make the change through the edit modal and notify employees of the change. If you have a large number of associated employees, contact us with a publicly shared press release indicating the name change as well as the reason for the rebrand. We’ll review the press release to determine if the rebrand meets the criteria for a name change or a follower migration. We’ll provide next steps after reviewing the provided materials.

Keep in mind that:

  • Followers can’t be migrated when a Page change is due to an acquisition, merger, de-merger, or company split, as we can’t assume followers would want to follow the newly formed company.
  • Changing your Page name doesn’t change work experience on the profiles of current and former employees. We recommend posting a Page post and notifying members so they can update their profiles to reflect the name change.
  • The Page URL isn’t automatically changed when you change your Page name.
  • There is a 100-character limit on the company name.
  • You cannot change the names of pages with a large number of associated members. This measure ensures there is no significant impact on associated member profiles when a company changes its Page name.
