Permissions to create or sponsor ads

Last updated: 4 days ago

To create new ads or to sponsor organic posts from your LinkedIn Page, you need an ad account in Campaign Manager that you associate with the corresponding Page. Then you’ll need the correct permissions on your ad account and the Page.

Required ad account permissions

The level of access you need on the ad account depends on who creates the campaign:

  • If you need to create both campaigns and ads, you must be assigned the role of campaign manager, account manager, or billing admin.
  • If you only need to create or edit ads in an existing campaign, you must be assigned the role of creative manager, campaign manager, account manager, or billing admin.

How someone is added to an ad account varies depending on if you have Business Manager:

  • If your ad account has been claimed by a Business Manager, a Business Manager admin will need to provide you with the appropriate permissions.
  • If your ad account hasn’t been claimed by a Business Manager, an account manager from the ad account can provide the appropriate permissions in Campaign Manager.

Required LinkedIn Page permissions

Page permissions can be granted in either Campaign Manager or Business Manager:

  • If your Page has been claimed by a Business Manager, a Business Manager admin will need to provide you with the appropriate permissions.
  • If your Page hasn’t been claimed by a Business Manager, a Page super admin can provide the appropriate permissions from the Page’s settings.

The Page admin permissions you need depend on how you set up your ad or the actions you need to take, as shown in the following table.
