Learning, sharing, networking, and live entertainment — it’s a wrap for the second annual AxEC Tech Talk! AxEC Tech Talk on 24 October was an evening to remember for our community members from across the Bay Area. The event was an opportunity to listen to and interact with tech leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors. Interactive, informative, and inspiring — each session offered insights and takeaways for company founders and executives alike. Some key ideas and thoughts that emerged from the sessions: · Among the big changes that the tech industry is going through, Generative AI is poised to create significant impact. But the technology is still evolving and organizations are taking a measured approach to implementing Gen AI. Questions about the right use case, data privacy, and regulations are important to address. · Investors like to work with founders who have not just technology depth but also business understanding. In other words, founders need to not simply focus on what their products can do but what problems they are solving. Easy? Not quite. A panelist commented that if a founder takes 30 minutes to explain a business idea, there is a problem. The ability to articulate the market need succinctly shows clarity of thought and purpose. · Women have broken the glass ceiling in the technology sector but barriers still exist in achieving gender parity. We need to create a workspace in which women can grow and thrive, promote mentorship to guide young and mid-career professionals, encourage women to take challenging assignments, and continue to promote STEM education among girls.
