Exciting news for kids' nutrition in Kalamazoo! Did you know that YWCA Kalamazoo's Dreamery food service program is making waves in children's healthy eating? We're thrilled to share that we've been featured in Second Wave Michigan for our participation in the amazing 10 Cents a Meal program! This innovative initiative is a game-changer for Michigan's kids and farms. It's not just about food - it's about nurturing healthy habits and supporting local agriculture. As Megan Maddox from the Michigan Department of Education puts it: "This lets them offer more variety and teach kids healthy eating habits across the state." Isn't it wonderful to see our community investing in our children's future? What do you think about programs like this? Leave a comment below! Know a parent who'd love to hear about this? Tag them to spread the word! Let's celebrate good food and great education together! https://lnkd.in/eCUNC7DS

Day 2 of our Michigan trip was with YWCA Kalamazoo! The YWCA WISH team is growing and changing with new people, goals, and vision. This means team members must branch out to create a new path of collaboration, innovation, and relationship building. Branching out requires digging down deep into the team’s roots to reconnect to core values, strengthening their trunk with purpose and support, and nourishing the fruit of team success. During this teambuilding experience, the YWCA WISH team reaffirmed its values, visions, and goals while developing stronger connections with each other. We also appreciate their Executive Director/CEO, Susan Rosas, joining in the fun!

What an incredible few days we've spent connecting Kalamazoo changemakers with this amazing group of women leaders from Africa participating in an International Visitor Leadership Program project focused on promoting peace and security. Thanks to Dr. Kenlana Ferguson at Michigan Transformation Collective who met with them on Friday, and to Aita Wellington, Immigrant Rights Advocacy Manager and Fanny Fernandez, Human Trafficking Program Manager, at the YWCA Kalamazoo, and Gwendolyn Hooker, Founder and CEO of Helping Other People Exceed (HOPE) thru Navigation and its Justice Against Bullying in Schools (J.A.B.S.) program, who met with them today. We also extend our deepest appreciation to Dr. Thomas Kostrzewa, Jean Ogilvie, and Leeanne Seaver, who shared a memorable al fresco dinner with the group Sunday evening. We invite you to celebrate the impact of IVLP with us at Kalamazoo's first Diplomacy Begins Here Summit, hosted in partnership with the U.S. State Department and Global Ties U.S. at the Epic Center on July 11. Registration information is in available in the comments. #IVLP #ExchangesImpact #ExchangeIsForEverybody #IAmDiplomacy #Kalamazoo
