🌍 Last week, we concluded the #NYU #Riskathon 2025, marking the 9th annual collaboration between New York University and Wikistrat. This 8-day simulation brought together 132 participants from 37 countries for an intensive #horizonscanning exercise to explore #global #risks for 2025 and 2030. Through collaborative effort, participants identified 310 (!) unique risks across #Political, #Geopolitical, #Economic, #Social, and #ShockEvent categories, offering forward-looking insights into the challenges shaping the future. This year’s Riskathon, in partnership with RSIS | S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Reichman University, and The Digital Economist, exemplified the importance of global collaboration in tackling complex issues and advancing #strategicforesight. We’re proud of our participants’ contributions and look forward to sharing the top risks and standout achievements soon! Dr Maha Hosain Aziz (NYU) | Graham Ong-Webb (RSIS) | Lesley Terris (Reichman)

Donald #Trump’s return to the White House reignites uncertainty in #US-#Taiwan relations, with new arms deals, economic initiatives, and security dynamics shaping the path ahead. While the U.S. strengthens its partnership with Taiwan through agreements like the 21st Century Trade Initiative, Beijing’s mounting opposition and escalating responses amplify tensions in the region. 💡Will Trump’s administration deepen ties with Taipei, and at what cost to stability in the Taiwan Strait? 💡How might Taiwan balance its growing defense and trade commitments under heightened geopolitical pressure? Join us tomorrow (Thursday, December 12) for a webinar with Eric Chan from the Global Taiwan Institute, to explore the evolving dynamics and potential outcomes under Trump’s leadership. Donald #Trump’s return to the White House heralds a volatile new phase in U.S.-#China relations. With sweeping tariffs, hawkish advisors, and the potential for escalating tensions over #Taiwan and #technology, the second Trump administration may fundamentally reshape the dynamic between the world’s two largest economies. 💡Will Beijing respond with cautious diplomacy or assertive retaliation? How might these policies redefine the global order? Join us today for a webinar and Q&A session with U.S.-China relations expert, Dr. Minxin Pei. Register here: i.wikistrat.com/ch-us

🌟 Kicking Off the 9th Annual #NYU Riskathon! 🌟 Earlier today, we launched our annual #NYU #Riskathon #simulation, a unique, week-long collaborative event bringing together #IR students and Wikistrat's leading experts to analyze and predict the most critical risks shaping our world in the coming year. This year’s simulation is especially noteworthy for two key reasons: 🌎 Dual Time Horizons: Participants will engage in strategic #horizonscanning to examine potential risks to global stability across two pivotal milestones: 2025 and 2030. 🌎 Expanded Collaboration: Joining New York University's "Political Risks and Prediction" course (led by Dr Maha Hosain Aziz), are three outstanding international delegations: ✅ RSIS | S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies's "Political Risk Analysis" course (led by Graham Ong-Webb) ✅ Reichman University | IR students from graduate and undergraduate programs (led by Lesley Terris and Arik Segal) ✅ The Digital Economist | Experts contributing their unique perspectives. Stay tuned for insights!
