This year, Canva accelerated its sustainability commitments, achieving milestones that drive tangible climate impact—from clean energy to carbon removal. Through our partnership, we worked with Canva and its supplier partners to co-fund a solar farm in Illinois—cutting supply chain emissions and adding clean energy to the grid. We are releasing (likely the first) labeled dataset of 10,000 synthetic corporate spend data for estimating carbon emissions at NeurIPS this week! This dataset represents a critical step toward scaling corporate climate action. Scope 3 emissions—indirect emissions from a company’s value chain—make up a significant portion of total corporate emissions. Yet, they are notoriously difficult to measure, relying heavily on accurate mapping of financial data to emissions factors. In such cases, how do we consistently and accurately map spend data to emissions at scale? Our dataset provides a robust benchmark for evaluating AI models, including LLMs, in aiding/automating this critical task. In our paper, we also share baseline results and introduce new metrics for a holistic evaluation of predictions.
