SMA President Philip K. Bell, CAE today joined a live discussion about tariffs and the steel industry on 1A, a news program produced by WAMU 88.5 in Washington, D.C. It airs on about 400 National Public Radio affiliate stations nationwide. 1A also runs on Sirius XM channel 122 and is available as a podcast from NPR. The show reaches an estimated 4 million listeners. Phil explained to host Jenn White why SMA supports tariffs on imported steel, including steel that arrives by way of our biggest trading partners: “We think that it's important to strengthen America's manufacturing base, Jenn, and to protect American jobs as well as our national security. And we still see a consistent flow of subsidized and high-emissions steel coming into our country from all over the world. And often it's being transshipped through countries like Mexico and Canada.” Phil’s segment begins around the 12-minute mark. Listen at https://lnkd.in/g_QVzDBW
