  • 𝗩𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀! 🏆   The Osuu Chair has been nominated for Product of the Year 2024 by the renowned Swiss magazine RAUM UND WOHNEN, and we couldn’t be prouder!   This exceptional chair unites bentwood and plywood in a design that feels minimalist but is truly intricate. Available in oak and nutwood, Osuu showcases a high level of craftsmanship. Only a handful of workshops worldwide have mastered the art of bending nutwood into such a tight radius, and we are among them. The wood is finished with a silky natural hard wax, and its interchangeable seat cushions, in felt or saddle leather, add a layer of unmatched comfort.   What the jury of RAUM UND WOHNEN says: "This design skillfully harmonizes the aesthetics of a classic bentwood chair with the modern shape of a wooden shell chair. Elegant and timeless, it captivates with its delicate lightness and beautifully crafted armrests. All in all, a very comfortable chair that offers exactly what a chair should."   Help us bring home the title by casting your vote! A Social Space in an Academic Environment Honoring Historical Heritage 🏛️🌿📚 Take a look inside the newly built Flinders University Health and Medical Research Building (HMRB), a 22,000-square-metre facility, designed by the renowned Australian design studio Architectus as part of the University’s Bedford Park Campus, just south of Adelaide. This state-of-the-art building promotes medical research by incorporating natural materials, commissioned artworks, and architectural features, reflecting the multi-colored sands of Rainbow Yarta (Country) of the Adelaide Plains in South Australia. It connects its current occupants to the ancient stories of the land and honors the lore of the Kaurna nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which it stands. 🤲 This respect for the land is mirrored in the design of the lobby, where organic forms create a natural atmosphere. Students and guests are welcomed by swiveling Bao armchairs whose sinuous shape and warm red hues invite for comfort and reflection. The carefully curated furnishings and tactile materials foster a sense of community, collaboration, and connection—values central to both the building's mission and its design. 🤝 Powered entirely by renewable energy, HMRB is not only a space for innovation but also a place where tradition, sustainability, and healing come together to shape the future. 🌍 Architecture & interior design: Architectus Retail Partner: Estilo Photography: Shannon McGrath #walterknoll #walterknollprojects #architecture #lobbydesign

  • A Masterpiece of Design and Craftsmanship The Osuu Chair by Walter Knoll, designed in collaboration with Foster + Partners, is a stunning embodiment of craftsmanship, sustainability, and aesthetic minimalism. Its innovative combination of bentwood and plywood results in an intricate design that balances elegance and durability. Here’s what sets Osuu apart: 1️⃣ Design Excellence The chair features an organic, flowing silhouette culminating in a beautiful view from any angle. Its outer frame curves seamlessly into the legs, thereby revealing a sculptural quality. The lightweight design ensures comfort and adaptability for numerous settings, from homes to offices and hospitality spaces. 2️⃣ Sustainable Craftsmanship Constructed with FSC®-certified wood, sourced primarily from the Black Forest, the Osuu Chair is a commitment to eco-conscious manufacturing. The sparingly used glue is formaldehyde-free, ensuring a safe and environmentally friendly product. 3️⃣ Innovative Materials and Techniques Osuu uses the steam-bent wood technology in a very complex way, achieving precise curves. This is particularly special for Walnut, a material few manufacturers can bend to such fine tolerances. Optional seat pads in saddle leather offer customization for both style and comfort. 4️⃣ Timeless Versatility Perfect as a dining chair, an elegant accent in a living space, or as part of a boutique hotel’s ambiance, the Osuu Chair perfectly blends function with refined aesthetics. #walterknoll #woodenchair #minimalism #design

  • ✨🏢 A space defined by trust and expertise Designing areas for decision-making requires more than functionality—it calls for an atmosphere that reflects trust, stability, and confidence. • The Soul of Simplicity and the Power of Wood What is it about archaic beauty that resonates so deeply with us? The term "archaic" stems from the Greek word archaios, meaning ancient or original. It directs us back to the essence of things—to forms and materials that have stood the test of time because they are inherently true, unembellished, and honest. Wood reflects this philosophy like no other material. Its natural texture and warmth create a connection that feels both grounding and timeless. More than just a material, wood becomes a carrier of archaic beauty. Its raw, unprocessed nature embodies simplicity, while its organic grain tells a story of growth, resilience, and its deep ties to nature. This understanding lies at the core of the Aion Table. Its design focuses on the essentials: strength, balance, and authenticity. The solid base symbolizes stability, while the soft, refined tabletop highlights the quiet elegance that emerges from simplicity. The table offers more than function—it creates a space where the innate beauty of wood takes center stage. Choosing the Aion Table means bringing timeless values into your space. It is a celebration of materials that connect us to our roots and a reminder that true sophistication is often found in simplicity.

  • The World’s First TV Tower: An Aspiration for Functionality and Modernity Throughout 📺🌍 During the economic boom of the post-war era, television was a crucial driver of change and became the primary medium for entertainment and information in the 1950s. As demand for television services rose, it was Stuttgart, a city thriving on industrial success and innovation, that committed to erecting a tall and powerful transmitter. Commissioned to build it was no other than renowned construction engineer Fritz Leonhardt. His approach combined engineering excellence with a clear architectural vision. Inaugurated in February 1956, the 200-meter-high reinforced concrete construction, offering a fantastic view of the surroundings, became a model for similar broadcasting towers all over the world. 🏢 One crucial aspect of this success story was making the interior design an integral part of the building. The furnishings had to be uncompromisingly modern in line with Leonhardt’s vision and this is where Walter Knoll came into play. The chairs for the tower restaurant, Forum 363, were designed by emerging interior architect Herta-Maria Witzemann. A multipurpose chair, featuring a lightweight tubular steel frame and epitomizing functionality, just like the tower itself. Thus, anyone who visited this total work of art may have sat on chairs by Walter Knoll—nearly 900,000 people in the first year after its opening. 🪑 Photos: Walter Knoll archive & SWR archive (image no. 2) #WalterKnoll #FurnitureBrandofModernity #FernsehturmStuttgart #ArchitectureHistory #furniture
