  • A recent BBC investigation sheds light on a troubling trend: influencers selling unproven “cures” for PCOS, exploiting the lack of accessible, evidence-based medical solutions. For the 1 in 10 women globally living with PCOS, the search for answers can feel overwhelming. Many encounter fragmented care, dismissive experiences, or a lack of options, making them vulnerable to misinformation. At Visana Health, we take a science-backed approach to PCOS treatment and education: ✔️ Expert-led care with OB/GYNs and women’s health specialists ✔️ Personalized treatment plans grounded in evidence – not fads ✔️ Compassionate, whole-person support that empowers women PCOS is real, and so are the challenges women face. The solution isn’t supplements sold online—it’s access to high-quality, trusted care that addresses symptoms like irregular periods, infertility, and metabolic concerns. Let’s shift the narrative. Women deserve better care, better answers, and better outcomes for their health. • The New York Times investigation reveals a critical gap in women's healthcare: half of hysterectomy patients don’t fully understand which organs were removed or the lifelong health implications. This isn’t just about surgery—it’s about empowering women with knowledge, choices, and better care. Nearly 500,000 women undergo hysterectomies each year, but many face preventable symptoms like early menopause or increased health risks. At Visana Health, we’re changing the narrative with: ✅ 78% reduction in unnecessary procedures ✅ 95% of patients improving symptoms without surgery ✅ Comprehensive education before every treatment decision ✅ Evidence-based, less invasive alternatives When 1 in 3 women experience gaps in care, solutions like ours matter. • Women’s health is at a critical crossroads. While strides are being made in many areas, healthcare equity for women continues to lag. Recent insights from Bryony Winn, president of Carelon Health, highlight some despairing statistics: ▶️ Women’s life expectancy is at its lowest since 2006. ▶️ The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate among high-income countries. ▶️ 75% of women in menopause or perimenopause go untreated. ▶️ Mental health disparities persist, with 30% of teenage girls considering suicide in 2021. At Visana Health, we recognize that women’s health is not a niche issue—it impacts more than half the population, from adolescence to menopause and beyond. We are inspired by calls to action like this article to keep pushing for comprehensive, equitable care that supports women throughout every stage of life. Whether it’s expanding access to mental health services, improving maternal outcomes, or prioritizing menopause care, there is an urgent need for collaboration among payers, care providers, employers, and policymakers. It’s not just the right thing to do—it’s transformational. Addressing these gaps can unlock better health, better lives, and even a stronger economy. Let’s create a future where every woman receives the care and respect she deserves—because our daughters deserve nothing less. #WomensHealth #EquityInCare #MaternalHealth #MentalHealth #MenopauseAwareness #FutureOfHealth Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eWCdmkeD

  • Half of Women in the U.S. Skip or Delay Care – It’s Time to Act 🚨 An article in Fierce Healthcare highlights findings from a Deloitte report revealing a "triple threat" of barriers—affordability, access challenges, and past negative experiences—that cause 50% of women in the U.S. to delay or skip medical care. Key insights from the article: ▶️ Women are 35% more likely than men to skip care due to cost. ▶️ Nearly half of women are unprepared for a $500 medical emergency. ▶️ Past negative experiences with providers have caused 40% of women to avoid care altogether. ▶️ Women pay $15.4 billion more annually in out-of-pocket healthcare costs than men. At Visana Health, we see this as a call to action. Women deserve a healthcare system that is affordable, accessible, and designed to meet their unique needs. This means addressing disparities with thoughtful solutions, including: ✅ Increasing access to care through telehealth and convenient appointment options. ✅ Investing in preventive care and addressing women’s health beyond just fertility and childbirth. ✅ Listening to women, improving provider relationships, and building trust in care. As Fierce Healthcare notes, every stakeholder has a role to play—employers, payers, health systems, and innovators. Together, we can transform healthcare for women and create a system that works for everyone.
