  • As 2024 comes to a close, we want to take a moment to THANK YOU for being part of this incredible journey! We spent the day in Descanso Gardens Foundation earlier this week to strategize ways to help California become a more sustainable place for all. This year has been one for the books as we united green building communities across CA to become USGBC California! 🌱 From wins to challenges, beautiful moments to growth opportunities–we couldn’t have done it without your support! Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited for even bigger things, like supporting building performance policies, expanding Green Schools, Green Homes, and launching new certificate programs. And we want YOU to be a part of it 🌍 Let’s continue pushing forward—become a member, volunteer, join a committee, or step up as a leader. Together, we’ll create real change! Cheers to an even brighter 2025 🥂✨. Mark your calendars for our 24th Annual California Green Building Conference happening on May 22, 2025 in San Francisco 🌉: https://linkin.bio/usgbcca Happy Holidays from Team USGBC California 💚

We're thrilled to introduce the incoming leaders of the Regional Leadership Advisory Boards (RLABs) for 2024! Last month, our members voted in new leadership for four key regions: Northern California, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego The RLABs are groups of passionate, local sustainability champions dedicated to enhancing the experience of our members and advancing green building practices in their respective regions. These leaders will be instrumental in shaping programming, events, and initiatives that engage the community, foster collaboration with local partners, and drive sustainability on the ground. Last night at the Green Gala, my dream project was honored with the prestigious Honor Award for Zero-Waste and Circularity Projects in California! This achievement is particularly significant as it marks the first public project globally to attain TRUE Certification for Construction. This groundbreaking endeavor enabled us to spearhead and establish the TRUE Zero Waste standard for construction, setting the stage for a more sustainable future. The event was a fantastic opportunity to rejoice with familiar faces, dear friends, and inspiring professionals dedicated to enhancing our planet. Connecting with like-minded individuals was equally gratifying, fostering new relationships and collaborations. A heartfelt thank you to USGBC California for hosting a delightful, enlightening, and motivating gathering. I eagerly anticipate this event every year as it offers a platform to engage with clients, friends, and peers in a positive environment. This marks the second consecutive year that 🌟 All About Waste 🌟 has been involved in projects receiving Honor Awards. I am immensely proud of my exceptional team – your commitment, expertise, and diligence have been instrumental in our success. None of this would have been achievable without your hard work and dedication. Here's to an even brighter future ahead! 2025 is shaping up to be another year filled with impactful projects, innovative solutions, and well-deserved recognition. Together, we will continue to lead the way in zero-waste and circularity, driving positive change in various industries and communities. Let's raise a toast to making sustainability the norm! Cheers to a sustainable future! 🥂💫 #GreenGala #ZeroWaste #CircularEconomy #TRUECertification #Sustainability #HonorAward #AllAboutWaste #MakingADifference

  • Hi all! We've been a bit busy with our Gala and yes, still all the other work we've been doing in this busy December! But we didn't want to forget to recognize a recent award for our Board Member Farrah Farzaneh CCM, DBIA, LEED AP BDC, ENV SP, being recognized by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors’ for “Excellence in Energy and Sustainability – Climate Action Leadership.” It's a wonderful post about impactful work...so please read on, and Congratulations, Farrah! https://lnkd.in/gdbdKE_J

CONGRATULATIONS! San Bernadino County Community College District’s (SBCCCD) Farrah Farzaneh was awarded the California Community Colleges Board of Governors’ “Excellence in Energy and Sustainability – Climate Action Leadership.” Farrah Farzaneh, executive director for the Facilities Planning, Construction, Sustainability & Local Outreach department, has spearheaded transformative sustainability initiatives since 2018. This includes: leading the district toward its Zero Net Energy goals; helping secure $700,000 in funding for the solar farm and battery storage project at Crafton Hills College; $1 million in incentives for electric vehicle charging stations and $160,000 for energy-efficient projects under Southern California Edison’s Emerging Technology Program; implemented a district-wide energy and water monitoring dashboard; and served on the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office Climate Action Task Force. The Board of Governors Energy and Sustainability Awards were established in 2012 to honor community college sustainability leaders as well as local energy efficiency and sustainability efforts. Climate action is at the cornerstone of Vision 2030, the California Community Colleges strategic plan.
