🎉 Milestone Achieved: Scaling Sodium ion Battery Materials! One of the biggest challenges in scaling new battery technologies has commonly been securing a reliable material supply chain. In 2024, the UNIGRID team set out to overcome this hurdle—and we’re proud to share that we’ve achieved pilot-scale production of our innovative sodium cathode materials, exceeding 100 kg per day. UNIGRID’s energy-dense sodium-ion batteries, are free of nickel, cobalt, lithium, and copper, paving the way for a more resilient, scalable, and cost-effective battery supply chain. As we enter 2025, we continue to scale production toward exceeding 1 metric ton per day, marking a pivotal step toward high-volume sodium-ion cell manufacturing! #SodiumIonBatteries #EnergyStorage #BatteryInnovation #Sustainability

💡 𝗦𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗜𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲? 🔋 We’re proud to share some milestones in battery safety metrics here at UNIGRID 🚀. As energy storage systems have become integral to our daily lives—from powering EVs to enabling renewable energy storage—the need for batteries that achieve both safety and performance standards has never been more critical. Although nail penetration tests here offer a glimpse into what we can expect during cell abuse, it’s not an ideal method of quantifying safety. Instead, Accelerated Rate Calorimetry (ARC) is a more robust technique for evaluating the thermal stability and safety characteristics of batteries. We like to think of it as a 𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵! ARC tests are used as part of the evaluation process for UL 9540A, the Test Method for Evaluating Thermal Runaway Fire Propagation in Battery Energy Storage Systems, representing one of the most robust and well recognized methods to measure safety. 📊 Click the link below to view our battery safety white paper, which reports ARC safety testing of various commercial Li-ion and Na-ion batteries. https://lnkd.in/gKZNDxVB #BatterySafety #Innovation #SodiumIon #SafetyTesting
