And that’s a wrap! The 7th Stmposium for Advanced Practitioner for H&N cancer was a huge success! I have hope for the future! Over 250 hCPs gathered together to share knowledge and change lives! We covered it all— from addressing the construct of how the built environment perpetuates health inequity H Steven Sims, MD, FACS to swallowing prefab and rehab to closing oral defects with custom prostheses to nanobots that will deliver targeted obcologic therapies Alnair Therapeutics Anh Nguyen, MD, MBA to liquid biopsies that can detect cancer 2years before it shows up clinically Nishant Agrawal and the list goes on. We closed out the course with historical, groundbreaking work being done by David Lott and his extensive team Mayo Clinic Phoenix as he showed us a 4 month post video of the laryngeal transplant he just did- only 3rd ever done in the US and 4th in the world. He also spoke to regenerative medicine that allows for the replacement of vocal cord and trachea with amazing function. He started with the question “what might we”….. Thank you to Ellen MacCracken Nishant Agrawal , the incredible faculty, participants and the team and leadership at Atos Medical - US Bridget Guenther, M.S., CCC-SLP Karen Volz for making this happen. Rodney Taylor said it best when he said this is truly “God’s work”. These pictures are a small smattering of the heroes and beautiful humans I get to call friends and colleagues. Mario A.
