Everything in startups can change—except the people you trust. Ideas evolve, markets shift, and challenges are constant. But one thing never changes: the importance of trust in people. When Assel and I started Alma, it was just the two of us. Everyone had questions: "You're both non-technical. How will you build a product? How will you move fast enough?" But we believed in each other. That belief carried us through raising our first funding, pivoting our idea, and eventually finding the right technical co-founder. The lesson? The most critical decision in building anything is choosing people you can trust. Ideas will change. Circumstances will shift. But when you have people you trust, you can navigate anything. That’s what Alma stands for: being the trusted partner for immigrants navigating their journeys. Trust in people. It's more fun that way.
