For the first time in the U.S., American manufacturers are building components for the offshore wind industry. Subsea high-voltage cables, steel monopiles, and more are being ordered, built, and delivered to offshore wind projects now being constructed off the East Coast. Behind each new project is a network of steel suppliers, fabricators, manufacturers, engineers, welders, carpenters, and many others. Today, the U.S. offshore wind supply chain spans 39 states — from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico — and is backed by over $24 billion in investments.
