A little start of 2025 nugget from Union Square Consulting I came across this morning. This was a tack on to the end of an article primarily focused on tightening rev ops around acquisition, but it struck me as foundational... "We can find some quick wins with NRR by documenting the entire process, from ICP/Personas, to sales handoff, to implementation, to renewals and expansion. Then, we want to drive adoption of that process by creating risk signals to identify at-risk accounts and see our team executing the processes we’ve laid out to maximize customer value. Once we have this foundation in place – which can definitely be achieved in the first 90 days – we can move on to more advanced levels to optimize NRR further." Summary: Don't overthink or overcomplicate it. Sell to the right people, work through (i.e. document) your customer journey to make sure you nail the moments that matter, track the progress ruthlessly and always focus on improving customer value.
