Sofia, the heart of her family, makes three kinds of traditional tamales—rojo, verde and mole—for her children and grandchildren every Christmas. It's an energetic full house as all four nietos gather in her TNDC residence for the holiday season. Originally from Durango, Mexico, Sofia moves through her Mission neighborhood comfortably using her first language. “El Corazón de la Misión,” or “The Heart of the Mission," boasts the greatest concentration of Latinx businesses in the city! When you give to TNDC, you’re giving a home for the holidays. Visit ➡️ bit.ly/tndcSF to contribute today! 🧡 English translation: “Well, everything is convenient, and I have everything I need to go wherever I want. I have everything close by.” #HomeForTheHolidays #TNDC #AffordableHousing"

It was such a pleasure to celebrate the grand opening of the Indigenous Peoples Cultural Arts Healing Center last week with Cultura y Arte Nativa de las Americas! The 9,250-square-foot facility at the ground floor of Casa Adelante 681 Florida serves as new community arts, performance and rehearsal hub for the whole city in support of cultural place-keeping in the Mission. “Eight years ago, we at Mithun along with TNDC and Mission Economic Development Agency envisioned a giant double-height cultural gathering space, with affordable homes above, stretching the full depth of the block, with maximum street visibility and programmatic flexibility - a true stake in the ground for the Arts in the Mission District,” says Mithun senior associate Logan Kelley. “[As] Cultura y Arte Nativa de las Americas and Carnaval San Francisco opens this incredible space, we couldn't be happier to celebrate with them. We are nothing without the Arts! ¡Adelante!” Learn more about this inspiring space and organization, as well as our collaboration with Youth Art Exchange to craft the custom entry gates: https://lnkd.in/gwiZKW2Z

COME OUT TO URGE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO OVERTURN SFMTA’S RV BAN Join us on Today, December 10th at 3:00 p.m. in Room 250 at City Hall to urge the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to overturn the RV ban passed by the SFMTA Board of Directors. In October, the SFMTA Board of Directors passed an overnight ban on oversized vehicles on city streets selected by the Director of Transportation. With 90% of unsheltered families living in vehicles and the family shelter waitlist being 530 families-long, it is unconscionable to dispossess families of their homes, force them into temporary shelter, and to keep the hundreds of families waiting for shelter on the street longer. We need real solutions, like safe parking sites and the expansion of permanent supportive housing—not mass criminalization of the working poor for political gain. At a time where our city and country is shifting to the right and further criminalizing our unhoused communities, we need to show up for our neighbors in RVs! Join us today and tell the SF Board of Supervisors to VOTE YES on overturning the SFTMA’s ban on RVs across the city! #TNDC #NoTowingFamilyHomes #SafeParkingNotSweeps #DoNotTowMyHome #WhereDoWeGo #RVBanAppeal

At 18, Kelvin was rejected and cast out by his family for being gay. For over two decades, he and his dog looked for a place to call home. Today, as a new TNDC resident, he steps through his front door and is met with warmth, kindness, and a sense of welcome. Affordable housing isn't just a roof over one's head; it is the right to seek safety, dignity and the ability to take part in the vibrant life of a community—all of which are ratified under universal human rights. A safe, warm place to call home is the greatest gift of all. Help us make home a reality for more families this season ➡️ bit.ly/tndcSF. #TNDC #AffordableHousing #HomeForTheHolidays
