This week, we celebrated a remarkable milestone: the christening of Ilma!   Held aboard Ilma at Port Everglades, Jim Murren, Executive Chairman and CEO, and Ernesto Fara, President and CFO, joined Ilma’s Captain Magnus Bengtsson and General Manager Sasha Tyas, along with Father Sandford Sears from Seafarers' House at Port Everglades who honored tradition with a ceremonial blessing.   At the heart of every christening ceremony is the role of the godmother—a tradition deeply rooted in maritime history. Rachel Moosa, Chief People Officer, took to the stage to celebrate all 528 remarkable Ladies of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, both shipboard and shoreside, who collectively fulfilled the symbolic role of Ilma’s godmothers. The honor recognizes the company's dedication to celebrating the invaluable contributions of our Ladies and Gentlemen around the globe who strive to create the magic that our guests experience on every voyage.   To carry out tradition, the godmother representatives cued the iconic breaking of the Champagne bottle, officially christening Ilma and symbolizing good fortune and safe travels for all who sail on board.

"Mina is helming Beach House, an indoor-outdoor pan-Latin restaurant that includes multiple settings, from a bar area to sit down tables, and on the back deck, a sceney lounge including an infinity pool. “I actually really loved this particular space, it’s airy and open and light, and it offered a lot more flexibility,” he says. “We’re not super locked into just being one type of cuisine. It’s really cool because the way it works is you hit a port and see what they have and you get to play with it.” We are delighted to have Michelin-starred chef Michael Mina be part of Ilma with the Beach House.
