About us

The Great Game of Business® is a growth system designed to build healthier companies, better businesses, and better lives. The Great Game of Business® isn’t about theory -- it’s about practice. The Great Game draws from the successes and failures of thousands of open-book management practitioners to show how any company can teach its employees: How to think and act like owners How to promote continuous learning at every level of the organization How to fire up employees’ competitive juices How to broaden the concept of leadership How to delegate responsibility for the business How to drive innovation and build value in the business How to improve financial results for the company and themselves People have applied the principles of The Great Game to an awesome array of businesses -- from oil companies to hair salons, from Internet start-ups to roller coaster manufacturers, from fast-food chains to law firms, landscapers, mining operations, even not-for-profit social service organizations. Few people know more about building a culture of ownership than SRC Holdings Corporation, where The Great Game of Business® was born. We’ve been working on one for the past 4 decades.

Try something new this year! Are you working or leading in an organization that shares vital information with all levels of staff? I am certain there are far more of you that do this, versus those that do not. KUDOS! Transparency around metrics your team can positively impact is VITAL! However, as I watched my grandson try to remind my son during a veteran’s hockey game today, he said, “Dad, aim at the net!” It reminded me that we often tell our folks what they already know. What if instead he had asked… “Dad, what are the three things you will commit to so you can score a goal in this game?” The subsequent follow up would have gone from “Thanks buddy!” To, “hmm, let me think about that!” This inquiry/communication process creates active thinking and gets our brain cylinders firing. It’s the idea of thinking about “what - if” that helps us problem solve and exceed expectations. Many of my clients had their best year ever in 2025. One in particular, PurAqua Products, Inc., was even voted one of the best places to work in South Carolina! I can tell you this didn’t come from people being told what to do. Instead, they shared forecasted operational and financial metrics weekly, huddled to discuss ideas, and then asked the team what can you do in the next week to drive our desired outcomes? That is the secret sauce. Plain and simple. You need to appeal to the highest level of thinking. It is what makes people want to stay and grow with your organization! So, my question to you all is… what information will you share and how will you energize your teams to create positive outcomes and build an ownership culture? Looking for the “secret sauce!?” Look no further than The Great Game of Business ! TRIED. TRUE. TESTED. TRUSTED. Schedule time…let’s chat!!! #GGOBFORTHEWIN #empowermentandengagement #whatisstoppingyou

Family Fun Friday at Venturity! Today we welcomed team member’s kids into our office to experience a Staff Meeting, learn about #GGOB at our weekly Huddle, and catch a glimpse of what we do every day. Chase Walker, son of Deanna Corbo Walker, stepping up to lead the Staff Meeting like a pro was one of many highlights! Seeing the next generation engage with our culture was a great reminder of the importance of creating a workplace that inspires not just our team, but also those closest to them. • Back in May, GGOB All-Star, Keep Supply, was recognized as the fastest-growing company on Springfield Business Journal's 2024 Dynamic Dozen list! 🏆 The company achieved an extraordinary 175.6% revenue growth from 2021 to 2023, reaching $31.9 million in revenue last year and closing out 2024 around $51 million. Their team also grew by an impressive 219%, now boasting 67 employees! Our friend, Drake Hughes, President of Keep Supply, recently joined SBJ’s CEO Roundtable: Business Year in Review, where he shared insights on their success. When asked about the factors behind their remarkable growth, Drake said: "We practice the Great Game of Business. So I’d say a big part of it is teaching financial literacy to the team. We also have a team that believes in the ability to grow fast." It’s inspiring to see the Keep Supply team reaching such incredible milestones through dedication, teamwork, and innovation. It's a privilege and an honor to play a part in this amazing team's journey and celebrate this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations to Keep Supply for your accomplishments —here’s to continued growth and success in 2025! 🎉 🎧 Check out the full interview below: #GreatGameofBusiness #KeepSupply #FastestGrowingCompany #HealthyCompanies

At the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year event in 2003, Jack Stack shared his #entrepreneurship journey, from his failures to the lessons he learned climbing the ranks in big business and ultimately falling in love with the people he worked with in the midst of a national crisis. Out of these experiences, Jack discovered a new way of leading - one in which the business and the people could both thrive. The solution was #OpenBookManagement. Just visited SRC Holdings Corporation – the mothership of The Great Game of Business! This factory is where the magic happens... remanufacturing engines and doing all the dirty work. KPIs at every station, a tidy setup for greasy jobs, and a culture that’s all about accountability and ownership. Jack Stack (President and CEO) and Steve Baker (VP) are total legends.. they changed my life! Jack’s books "The Great Game of Business" and "A Stake in the Outcome" and Steve’s book "Quality Time Remaining" have had a huge impact on me and the way I think about business. #businessdoneright #openbookmanagement #gamechanger #greatgame #jackstack #stevebaker

Yesterday gave us the confidence that SRC is ready to grow! Each SRC Company has an ownership culture committee that serves as the educators, communicators and champions of our company culture. Yesterday, they spent the day sharing their most impactful efforts in 2024 as part of the Owners’ Cup, SRC’s internal competition centered around culture initiatives. From training and talent development to continuous improvement MiniGames, these committees showcased that they’ve built a strong foundation that will carry SRC for years. THANK YOU to all our employee-owners who serve on culture committees and for the continued support of The Great Game of Business team.

  • The number one success factor in building a meaningful, executable plan is buy-in. The Custom Wood Products, Inc team isn’t just hearing the 2025 financial plan—they’re empowered to shape it. By participating in an open, anonymous vote on the plan's feasibility, every employee has a voice in the company’s future. This isn’t just about building a strategy. It’s about building ownership: ✅ Employees understand the plan. ✅ They believe in its achievability. ✅ They commit to delivering it—together. When you shift the mindset from “that’s your plan” to “this is our plan,” you unlock a culture of trust, engagement, and empowerment. Ownership is the key to execution. #GreatGameOfBusiness #OwnershipCulture #HighInvolvementPlanning #Empowerment

St. Marys, KS — Custom Wood Products, Inc, a leader in custom cabinetry and woodworking solutions, announced its annual financial plan for 2025 in a company-wide meeting this past week.    The announcement not only detailed sales and financial projections but also introduced an innovative approach to employee engagement by allowing team members to vote on the feasibility of the proposed plan. The meeting, held at the company’s headquarters, was attended by employees from all departments.    CEO Kevin Gray opened the presentation by reflecting on the company’s achievements in 2024 and outlining ambitious goals for the coming year. “This plan represents a roadmap to continued growth and success,” Kevin stated. “But we believe that success is only achievable with the input and buy-in of our entire team.”   Following the presentation, employees were invited to participate in an anonymous voting process to evaluate whether they found the plan realistic and achievable. “We value the perspectives of our team members,” said CFO Jullie Whitney. “Their feedback is crucial in ensuring that our strategy is not only ambitious but also grounded in reality.”   The voting results will be reviewed by the leadership team, and adjustments to the plan will be made if necessary. Kevin emphasized that this initiative reflects the company’s commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture. “When we work together, we achieve great things,” he said. “This is about building a future that benefits all of us.”   As Custom Wood Products looks ahead to 2025, its innovative approach to financial planning and employee engagement sets a new standard for organizational collaboration. With a strong foundation of trust and teamwork, the company is poised for another year of excellence. The Great Game of Business Tom Price #2025
