Laronix’s COO, Mousa Ahmadi, PhD, discussed how his company’s MIRA Voice device is using artificial intelligence to help people with spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy and other conditions regain the ability to speak clearly. Laronix is currently refining the device with patients at the Burke Neurological Institute in White Plains. The Business Council of Westchester President & CEO Marsha Gordon attended the groundbreaking of Opal 115, a $223M transit-oriented development in Mount Vernon that brings 315 affordable apartments and a vision for inclusive, sustainable growth. “Projects like Opal 115 are essential for addressing Westchester’s housing challenges while fostering economic growth,” said Gordon. With its proximity to public transit, family-friendly layouts, retail spaces, and sustainable features, Opal 115 is a shining example of collaboration and innovation in solving regional housing needs. BCW Welcomes Dynamic New Leaders to Its Board of Directors The Business Council of Westchester (BCW) has appointed five new members to its Board of Directors. New Board Members: Jason Barnett, Founding Managing Partner, Vice Chairman, General Counsel, and Secretary of RXR Realty LLC, a fully integrated, multi-billion-dollar private real estate company. Barnett was instrumental in the formation of RXR following the landmark merger of Reckson Associates Realty Corp with SL Green, one of the largest public real estate management buyouts in REIT history. Andrew Castellano, Founder and Operator of Sharc Creative Inc, is a Westchester-born entrepreneur who specializes in innovative audio solutions designed to enhance business engagement. Castellano’s career began with WFAS Radio, where he honed his skills in broadcasting and communications. Beata Mastalerz, DNP, RN, Executive Director of Phelps Hospital. Since joining in January 2024, Mastalerz has been a driving force in advancing the hospital’s operational and clinical excellence. She previously served as Executive Director of Manhattan Eye Ear & Throat Hospital (MEETH), where she elevated its reputation as a Center of Excellence in Surgical Safety. Susan L. Parish, Ph.D., M.S.W., 13th President of Mercy University. Parish is a nationally recognized leader in health administration education. During her tenure as Dean of the College of Health Professions at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), she oversaw significant growth in enrollment and research funding. Thomas Scaglione, Vice President of Government and Community Relations at WMCHealth . Scaglione’s extensive experience includes his tenure as Mid-Hudson Regional Director for Empire State Development (ESD), where he secured over $120 million in economic development grants and established the $150 million Mid-Hudson Momentum Fund.
