Conserving the Texas heritage of agricultural lands, wildlife habitats, and natural resources.
About us
Concerned that Texas is losing its rural lands faster than any other state in the country, leaders of Texas’ statewide agricultural, wildlife and landowner organizations came together in 2006 to create the Texas Agricultural Land Trust. With a Board of Directors who, as landowners themselves, understand the day-to-day challenges of farming and ranching, TALT promotes the conservation of open space, native wildlife habitats, and natural resources of Texas’ private working lands. TALT, a non-profit organization, today has partnered with landowners to conserve 98,600 acres. Created by farmers and ranchers for farmers and ranchers, TALT is proud to play a role in conserving Texas’ legacy of wide open spaces.

Created by landowners, for landowners, TALT deeply understands the unique challenges of owning and managing land. That’s why we’re dedicated to conserving Texas’ grasslands, wildlife habitats, aquifers, and scenic landscapes for generations to come. Together, we are ensuring a future for Texas' working lands and the families that steward them.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the land, Texas’ wide-open spaces were ever so grand. The ranchers and farmers had done their part, Conserving the lands so close to their heart. With Texas skies stretching, both starry and bright, The future looked hopeful, secure in their sight. “Merry Christmas,” they called, “to the land we hold tight, And to all Texans, a peaceful good night!” 🎄

This week, TALT had the privilege of supporting the Texas Grazing Mentors Network in its mission to educate and empower the next generation of ranchers. Mentors from across Texas gathered at the Regen Ranch in Oakwood to connect, collaborate, and dive deeper into the topics that will help them mentor incoming land stewards. With insights from Dr. Jeff Goodwin of the Texas A&M Center for Grazinglands and Ranch Management, attendees explored soil health principles and ecosystem processes—key components for resilient ranching. TALT is proud to assist in curriculum development and champion conservation easements, equipping landowners with the tools to conserve Texas’ working lands for generations to come.

What does wildlife management look like with a TALT-held conservation easement versus without? The same! Everything you are doing to improve or support wildlife on your property should not be affected by the terms of the easement. https://lnkd.in/gmJpV_wy
