This year's Changemaker Award celebrates Alumnae who are using AI for good. We were blown away by the caliber and creativity of our applicants and how they are teaching their own communities to utilize AI. For the first time ever we have TWO winners. We are proud to introduce Ruvarashe Sadya from Zimbabwe as a 2024 Changemaker. Ruva created Dr. Rooots, an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot that identifies images of common medicinal plants. Using AI, the bot analyses user-submitted images to help prevent the misidentification and misuse of medicinal plants which pose significant health risks to the community. Help us congratulate Ruva and learn more about the Changemaker Award here https://bit.ly/3P19fPw! #Changemaker #PowerToTheGirl #TechForGood #AIInnovation

This year's Changemaker Award celebrates Alumnae who are using AI for good. We were blown away by the caliber and creativity of our applicants and how they are teaching their own communities to utilize AI. For the first time ever we have TWO winners. We are proud to introduce Carolyn He from the United States as a 2024 Changemaker. Carolyn created A Sustainable Future (ASF), an AI-driven, nationally-trained data analysis tool to help schools and students reduce academic paper consumption. Her app supports students in conducting local research and implementing ASF's Paper Consumption Program to help them recognize their agency for change. Help us congratulate Carolyn and read more about this year's Changemaker Award here: https://bit.ly/3P19fPw! #Changemaker #PowerToTheGirl #TechForGood #AIInnovation

"Generative AI tools hold the potential to boost productivity and democratize high-skill roles, but without targeted interventions—such as inclusive, evidence-based skilling programs, mentorship, and ecosystem support —these technologies will reinforce existing inequalities." - Tara Chklovski

When artificial intelligence is developed with intention, we create space for radical change. The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation just announced an additional 500K to fuel Technovation's work in advancing global AI literacy so that we can empower girls to become leaders, technology innovators, and real-world problem solvers. Together, we're building a future where a shared understanding of AI strengthens our human purpose, laying the groundwork for lasting change. At this year's World Summit, our Alumnae panel highlighted three brilliant young women in tech who got their start with Technovation. Moderating this panel was our very own board member, Ann Gaudard Weeby. Ann has been a board member for Technovation for 7 years, chairing Technovation through our toughest years - during COVID- and most recently as chair emeritus - and selflessly giving us hundreds of hours of her time, energy and all her resources. "Ann has been an incredible leader for the Technovation team, the board and our CEO. Ann has a talent for finding the nugget that everyone else has missed, pulling it out and making it shine. Having her in our inner circle helped us increase our effectiveness and efficiency by paying attention to our blind spots and being super strategic. She was also so good at celebrating the humans involved at every level, and noticing everyone’s hard work and behind the scenes labor. Her diverse background, breathtaking work experiences from around the world and in different types of organizations makes her an exceptional leader." - Tara Chklovski As Ann moves on with her own journey we want to express our sincerest appreciation and well wishes. And to our Alumnae panelists, Ritika Shrivastava, Nataliia Kulieshova, and Anshita S., we are so proud that you continue to be an active part of the Technovation family, you are the reason we do this work!
