Technoform's Alexandra Blakeslee's blog "Combining lead abatement with window replacement" has posted on glassmagazine.com. While strides have reduced the damaging or even fatal effects of lead paint, there remain many cases of lead poisoning in New York City. Lead can be found in painted wood windows and doors, and in window wells in older buildings – particularly in pre-1960 construction, before New York banned lead paint. These older buildings also tend to lack window maintenance and utilize older window technologies. There is an opportunity to maximize co-benefits of lead abatement and window replacement. Additionally, funding programs integrating lead abatement and window replacement can lower costs and support a more equitable, healthier and more sustainable building stock. EFCO relied on a combination of Technoform’s polyamide thermal barrier and plastic hybrid stainless steel (PHSS) warm edge spacer to meet the project’s specified aesthetics, thermal performance, durability and sustainability. National Glass Association (NGA)'s Window + Door Weekly has featured the blog post "These under-utilized products can help meet high demands for increased thermal performance" written by Technoform North America's Stephen Aki. Window and door products are constantly being redesigned to meet ever-increasing thermal performance requirements and yet, there are many under-utilized products in existence today that could help meet high demands.
