Dexcom Introduces Generative AI Platform for Glucose Biosensing: The Stelo platform analyzes individual health data patterns to provide personalized insights and recommendations for improving metabolic health. Stelo is designed for adults (18+) who do not use insulin or experience hypoglycemia, including those with prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, or even individuals without diabetes. Will these integrated insights and contextual support features make other Diabetes DTx products superfluous or will there be room for both in the market? Follow Guidea for a full assessment of the product experience as this goes live in the market.

The NIH shows that home care for the elderly with dementia can help avoid readmissions to hospital, reduce costs, bring benefits to their current and family life, in addition to optimizing their life and health. But caregivers shoulder large amounts of stress in coordinating care and support for their loved ones. We are proud to support Amalgam Rx deliver a solution for these caregivers. The unique AI solution, Elevmi, is run by a state-of-the-art large language model (LLM) trained on content from the National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and PsychU, the leading online resource for mental health. We're learning about Healthspan vs Lifespan today at the HITLAB Women's Tech Challenge from the talented and respected Jennifer Garrison of Buck Institute for Research on Aging. Ovarian aging is a key component of this, with ovaries aging faster than the rest of the tissues in the women's body and we need to learn more to improve women's healthspans. Women spend 25% more time in poor health than men. While women generally live six years longer than men, a report from the World Economic Forum and McKinsey Health Institute finds that women will spend an average of nine years in poor health throughout their lifetimes (men average a little over seven years). The important work our incubator, Femovate by Guidea, and HITLAB's Women's Health Challenge will improve women's healthspan. Looking forward to seeing who receives the awards later today. #healthinnovation #healthequity #womenshealth

Deloitte just shared a study exploring what’s causing US women to skip or delay medical care. The three reasons noted in the study are: 1. Affordability 2. Access 3. Prior Experiences Since diving deep into women's health, we've written extensively about the impact of prior experiences adversely influencing women's health outcomes and the opportunity for service and product design to create a new chapter in women's health. The study notes "When symptoms for a woman don’t match the established data (which is typically based upon men), patients could be misdiagnosed or ignored. Additionally, taking the time to build trust and listen to community voices is important but frequently overlooked. For example, in focus groups conducted in a previous Deloitte US study, more than 40% of female participants said they had skipped or avoided care because they didn’t like the way a provider or a staff member treated them. Some of the women participants said clinicians discounted their symptoms, didn’t listen to their concerns, or misdiagnosed a health issue. Such interactions with health care providers can create negative experiences that could erode trust and lead women to avoid necessary care." We spoke about this in our article for Fast Company on Spite Tracking and the trend among women to use digital health and at-home testing kits to fully document and validate their symptoms and experiences and come armed to appointments with proof of their experiences and suspected diagnoses. And while this may seem like a negative trend, it may be just what women's health needs to further research and innovation in this space. #healthequity #womenshealth #femtech
