Digital skills gaps and lack of broadband access often coincide. Because systemic inequities cause disparities in everything from internet access to education to income levels, historically marginalized groups like people of color and people with disabilities often underperform in digital skills statistics, just as they are overrepresented in non-adoption statistics. Despite the broad importance of the topic, the United States does not have a clear and defined digital skills framework that sets out benchmark skills and the requirements for achieving them or even a consistent method of measuring current digital skill rates across the country. This absence of data hampers any attempt to effectively and uniformly build our collective digital skills. https://lnkd.in/gyMeXsQH #Digitalinclusion #DigitalEquity #Colorado

#Digitalliteracy is vital for advancing financial inclusion, especially in emerging markets where low digital and financial literacy hinder the adoption of digital financial services. Providers face challenges in delivering actionable information to help individuals and small businesses engage with the formal financial sector. Enhancing digital financial literacy empowers people to use mobile money services, making financial processes simpler, more affordable, and accessible. By improving digital financial literacy, underserved communities can achieve greater financial stability and resilience, ultimately transforming their economic lives. Huge shoutout to Social Venture Partners Denver and Aimara Rodriguez for all your guidance and support in supporting nonprofits, like Teach by Tech, in improving our mission driven messaging!
What a wonderful way to conclude my 7-week “Storytelling and Communicating Your Impact” workshop series with Social Venture Partners Denver! This course was all about enhancing nonprofit and social enterprise founders' pitches through data-driven storytelling. With over a decade of experience in pitching to investors and partners, I’m passionate about helping founders articulate their impact effectively. A huge congratulations to the ten nonprofit organizations selected for this year’s program. I’m incredibly proud of the dedication they’ve shown and the powerful pitch narratives they’ve developed through this experience. Participating Organizations: - Center for Community Wealth Building - Teach by Tech, Inc. - The Community Impact Fund - Colorado Afterschool Partnership - Youth Empowerment Agency - Avante Garde - Direct Access / iLearn Collaborative / GTC Technology - The Economic Development Association for Black Communities - Mile High WorkShop - WeeCycle Lastly, a special thank you to Dave Koken, Dara Bellinson, Rich Shockey, and the entire Social Venture Partners Denver team for being such fantastic partners and for inviting me to facilitate this program. #denver #colorado #nonprofit #pitching #funding #entrepreneurs

The lack of reliable, affordable child care in the U.S. makes it hard for working parents—especially women—to go to work, be productive at work, and even stay in the workforce over the long term. This not only hurts their economic futures, but it hurts businesses' bottom line, too. But here’s the good news: Data shows that when employers invest in child care benefits for their employees, it more than pays for itself. Our survey also found that employees would be more likely to stay at their jobs if employers offered better caregiving benefits. https://lnkd.in/d94p5f86

A survey conducted by the National Skills Coalition found that 92% of jobs today require digital skills, but one-third of workers don’t have the foundational digital skills necessary to enter and thrive in today’s jobs. Closing this digital skill divide leads to higher pay, better business outcomes, and benefits to local economies. #digitaldivide #digitalequity
