She retired thinking her pension would cover her needs, but rising costs and healthcare expenses have made things difficult. Recently, Bernadine had to make sacrifices like selling her jewelry to pay her bills. But, thanks to our Surprise Neighbor Choice Food Pantry, Bernadine was able to pick out food she loves — even choosing six Granny Smith apples to bake a pie! 🍏❤️ Small moments like this bring so much joy. St. Mary’s Food Bank annual Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution was another incredible success! Starting in Northeastern Arizona two weeks before Thanksgiving and ending with a three-day distribution in Phoenix and Surprise, we provided 21,982 families with holiday food boxes, produce bags, and a turkey. A huge shout out to our more than 1,000 volunteers and many corporate partners, including Dutch Bros Coffee, the Phoenix Police Department, U-Haul, and Arizona Diamondbacks, who kept the line moving and the donations coming! We capped an amazing year of working with Danny Zelisko Presents on Friday with a signed José Feliciano guitar, bringing the final total for 2024 auctions to $139,988 – enough to allow St. Mary's Food Bank to distribute nearly 700,000 meals to our neighbors in need. A huge thank you to the dozens of artists who donated signed guitars this year, and to Danny Zelisko and his incredible staff for their patience and dedication in helping feed the hungry in Arizona.
