Chinese government hackers have compromised telecommunications infrastructure across the globe as part of a massive espionage campaign that has affected dozens of countries. The Wall Street Journal previously identified Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Lumen Technologies are among the victims.

China’s Ministry of Commerce said it would in principle ban the export of gallium, germanium, antimony and certain other extremely hard materials to the U.S. The ministry also said it would conduct stricter reviews of the export of graphite to the U.S. and ban the export of dual-use items intended for U.S. military purposes.
