SpOC Year in Review: This year, SpOC has implemented the “ready” phase of SPAFORGEN, which mandates semi-annual training periods for crews of space operators, allowing them to participate in exercises they might not be able to take part in when working shifts for day-to-day operations. The “ready” phase allows Guardians to participate in advanced training designed to equip them for high-intensity conflict in a low-threat environment. “Posturing to deter and win in conflict must remain our overriding purpose!,” said SpOC Commander, Lt. Gen. David N. Miller Jr.. SpOC Year in Review: This year, SpOC redesignated three Space deltas as mission deltas: MD31, MD2, MD3, and MD4. The mission delta model merges operational activities of deltas with sustainment capabilities, as well as integrates intelligence support directly into the unit. This merger allows for more unified mission readiness, providing deltas with the capabilities to readily acquire the tools and support they may need. SpOC Year in Review: In March, United States Space Force’s Col. Nick Hague, NASA astronaut, visited Buckley Space Force base ahead of his August Crew-9 launch, which made him the first Space Force officer to launch beyond Earth’s atmosphere. The purpose of his visit was to get a better understanding of the capabilities the Space Force provides NASA that make human space flight possible. “NASA depends on the entire mission set that the Space Force helps provide,” said Hague. SpOC Year in Review: This year, SpOC focused its efforts on building its Guardian and Airman Development Program (GADP). The program provides systematic and progressive training opportunities to meet the developmental needs of our Guardians and Airmen. The intent is to give our NCOs the tools to develop as leaders and supervisors, empowering them to make informed decisions while also providing them with a critical support system.
