It has been a monumental year for SomeraRoad’s #WestBottoms historic revitalization project. In October, we officially broke ground on infrastructure construction and now we begin the next phase of work on this game changing project. On the heels of key progress this fall, we are pleased to see the West Bottoms featured by the Kansas City Business Journal in their annual real estate recap, “A rundown of Kansas City's biggest real estate stories of 2024.” Upon completion, the live-work-play-stay micro-neighborhood development will offer 1,200 apartments, 168,000 square feet of office and retail, a 50-room boutique hotel, improved walkways and infrastructure, and activated public green spaces. Last month, our team was honored to partner with Morrison Hotel Gallery, known for its unparalleled collection of fine art music photography, to bring a first of its kind pop-up art show curated by GRAMMY® Award-Nominated artist #PostMalone to SomeraRoad's Prima at Paseo South Gulch. Featuring photography from Post Malone's personal photographer #AdamDeGross, the three-day pop-up event kicked off with a private event with Post Malone and a range of local artists, creatives, partners, and friends. Bringing new life to existing office space within new development tower, Prima, the pop-up gallery was a massive success welcoming in a range of new and returning visitors to the neighborhood and adding to the creative pulse felt throughout the South Gulch. We are very proud to announce the launch of SR Aviation Infrastructure (SRAI), a new subsidiary of SomeraRoad, focused on the acquisition, development, and leasing of aviation-related real estate, including airplane hangar space for based aircraft, FBOs, MROs, flight schools, charter, and management companies across the United States. SRAI was founded to address the existing supply and demand imbalance in the aviation-related real estate sector. Our team sees significant future demand growth and limited new production, furthering the aforementioned imbalance, while increasing supplier power and pricing. With this launch, we have acquired our first SRAI asset, Quail Air Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The prized 23-acre hangar complex consists of 37 individually leased general aviation hangars and 32K SF of adjacent office space in an irreplaceable location just off the Las Vegas Strip. Our team is proud to embark upon this new chapter that begins with the acquisition of one of the most premier general aviation facilities in the country, Quail Air Center. Today was a memorable day in the #WestBottoms. SomeraRoad Inc., I-Solutions, and City of Kansas City, MO gathered to celebrate the infrastructure groundbreaking on the historic West Bottoms revitalization efforts. Mayor Quinton Lucas, City Manager Brian Platt, SomeraRoad Founder Ian L. Ross , and KC City Planning and Development Director, Mario Vasquez, gave remarks to an audience full of West Bottoms neighbors, local business owners, project partners, and community leadership. This is just the beginning for this one-of-a-kind project which is set to commemorate the history of the West Bottoms, while creating new ways to live, work, and play in one of Kansas City’s most unique and historic neighborhoods. Award-winning Nashville favorite, Maiz de la vida, is officially open in Paseo South Gulch! So proud of Chef Julio Hernandez and his incredible team as they begin this exciting next chapter for Maiz. First opening in 2020 as a taco truck, Maiz de la vida quickly gained popularity growing from a from taco truck to tortilla shop, to Chef Julio Hernandez receiving a nomination from the James Beard Foundation for “Emerging Chef”. Serving lunch and dinner daily, the new full-service concept will offer Maiz's famous flour tortillas and tacos, as well as a new menu with Mexican entrée dishes, and a tequila and mezcal forward beverage program. The awards recognize individuals and businesses that contribute to excellence in architecture, construction, engineering, innovative reuse, interior design, landscape architecture, neighborhood revitalization, public art, and real estate development. The Stutz was named the winner of the Real Estate Development category for the firm's thoughtful historic restoration and revitalization of The Stutz into a dynamic live-work-play micro-neighborhood. The project was also a finalist in the Architecture category for the adaptive reuse work done by DELV Design. Opening soon at Paseo South Gulch... The much anticipated Maiz de la vida opens at Paseo South Gulch next Monday, October 7th! Four years after opening his first taco truck, James Beard Semifinalist, Chef Julio Hernandez, will open Maiz de la vida as a full service restaurant in the heart of SomeraRoad's microneighborhood. Maiz will launch with lunch and dinner, serving up their famous corn tortillas, quesabirria tacos, and a new menu featuring tequila and mezcal cocktails and dishes unique to the full-service concept.
