Helping Small & Local Businesses Survive & Thrive | Guiding 50+ Entrepreneurs to Financial & Time Freedom | Discover Your Path with the Free “Path to Freedom Scorecard™"

Just saw an interview from Elon Musk. Here's an interesting thing he had to say about starting a company: "Most people think starting a company is going to be fun. In most cases it's not." After running my own companies, starting and failing and starting over for the last 4-and-a-half years I can now validate this sentiment. The highs are the highest but most of the time it just involves going into work each day and trying to figure out how to solve problems no one else wants to solve. Then at the end of the day you have to try and guess the most valuable things to focus on the next day. But then you have a breakthrough. Whether it's personal or with a client, those highs more than make up for hardness of starting something new. If you don't resonate with this, that's ok! Everyone has their own path. Thought I'd share this for anyone else who is mired down in the hardness right now too. Keep going, there are amazing moments ahead! #entrepreneur #smallbusinessowner

I often get asked what I am selling. Unfortunately it's a super challenging question to answer. Today we were talking with 2 clients in somewhat of a brainstorming session. Client number 1 was grateful to be working with us for the strategic insights we provide and the excellent service on helping to implement their CRM and then the continued support and coaching to make sure they are taking full advantage of it. Client number 2 was grateful for implementation of their CRM telling us that not only were they saving hundreds of dollars each month but that they were getting higher quality service than with any other firm. Ever since working with us, they've complained they wish they had found us sooner because they've wasted 18 months and thousands of dollars trying to get something in place. If you've ever used a CRM you'll understand what both these clients have gone through. Our strategic software implementation is what sets us apart but until you've had to try and figure out a CRM you would have no idea how valuable this is for a small business owner. So... Are we selling SAAS? Are we selling SWAS? Are we selling coaching? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

We just got this review back from a client. This captures exactly what we are trying to do at Small Business to Go! We aren't trying to grow our company to gazillions of dollars (although who could possibly complain about that 😉) We carefully select our clients and really work to understand their business before working to engage with them and help them grow! One of the best things we see as a company is when our clients have an ah-ha moment and find new ways to creatively grow their business. In '3 feet from gold' told by Napoleon Hill in 'Think and Grow Rich' the most under-celebrated character is Engineer. Both Darby's uncle and the "Junk man" had the right tools for the job. The difference between them was hiring the engineer to know where to dig. This made the "Junk man" rich while Darby was left paying off his uncle's debts. Sometimes all it takes is an outside opinion. If this sounds like something that could help your business or if you know someone who this might help I'd love to be introduced! Keep up the good work everyone!

Grateful to have been a part of the MBC program at the University of Utah. It's been 3 weeks since I finished my degree and with school starting up this week and next week, I'm actually a little (emphasis on little) sad I'm not headed back. Sure, I don't miss the homework, but I do miss the connections I've made, the constant focus on my business, and the things I was learning on a regular basis. If you have the opportunity to join the MBC, you should absolutely pounce on it. Nothing has had a greater impact on my business progression or personal entrepreneurial journey than finishing my masters degree in Business Creation at the University of Utah - David Eccles School of Business and the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute. Here's the article announcing our graduation and shouting out all of the amazing entrepreneurs I had the opportunity to work alongside over the last year. Rebecca Overton Waldron, Dane Eyerly, Sabrina Sherwood, Sam Mehr, Landen Hull, Susan Kingsley, Tiger Chase, Connor Chase, MBC, Matt Eau Claire, Stephanie Eau Claire, M.Ed., Kassidy Ricks, Caitlin LaComb, Arjun Gill, Daniel Diehl, Susan Knott, Christine Mather, and Alex Wonder https://lnkd.in/ggsPG-xA

I had the pleasure to work through what we call a small business flyover for Jess Wilson and her company jwilsonpix which offers remote photography services! She's well on her way to building an extraordinary company but there are some opportunities for her to refiner her systems and processes as well. Check out the flyover and please feel free reach out if you'd like one for your business! It was so fun to go through, would love to make this a more regular practice!

“Little by little, a little becomes a lot” I’ve loved this Tanzanian proverb since I first heard it. The longer I go through life, the more I realize how true it is both in life and business. I love the book the slight edge where the author, Jeff Olsen, says there is not such thing as the quantum leap but that small actions, done regularly, over time have a much greater impact than any single large scale action Think of about eating, you can’t eat everything you need for the week on Sunday and expect to feel full and energized the rest of the week. Eating a little bit, regularly, over the course of the week is what leads to that. Simple to do, hard to internalize and implement! Still working to get better at my SDVSDs! #smalldailyactions #smallbusinessowner #smallbusinesstips #smallbiztips #smallbizlife

After going through MBC program here’s one of my biggest takeaways: Every business no matter the size needs 3 plans: 1. A Marketing Plan 2. A Sales Plan 3. A Financial Plan (Model) These are the base for real clarity on how to accelerate business growth. They don’t need to be complicated but having them is a huge lift!

Historically when I’ve thought about the 80/20 rule I’ve thought of it as one-directional. 20% of good actions lead to 80% of good result OR 20% of bad actions lead to 80% of bad results. As we’ve worked with our clients it’s become quickly apparent that it’s BOTH at the same time. Instead of 80/20 it really is more like 20/60/20 for practical purposes. In our business, as well as clients’ business, it doesn’t take long to identify who is in the top 20 and who is in the bottom 20. However, most of our clients haven’t thought about it all! Going through this exercise has had a huge impact on the clients who have been willing to go through this exercise! In fact, unsurprisingly, I guess, 80% of them see roughly a 20% increase in revenue and/or operational efficiency/time savings. It’s the small actions done consistently that make the biggest differences! See you tomorrow!! #8020rule #topperformers #bottomperformers #206020rule #clientmanagment #smallbusinessmarketing #smallbiztips #entrepreneur
