As a founder, does it make sense to raise venture capital or is it better to wait? I share my thoughts on the matter in this post.
Serac Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm investing in the next generation of global companies. Our willingness to venture where others won’t provides access to new markets and creates differentiated opportunities for our network of founders and investors. The firm takes its name from large ice formations (seracs) that form at high altitudes in the tallest mountains in the world. Seracs are the most difficult obstacles to overcome before reaching the summit. Similarly, our mission is to guide founders to help them overcome the ‘seracs’ they encounter as they grow their companies. For more information, please visit www.seracventures.vc

At Daraja Capital, we strive to foster meaningful relationships with the founders and fund managers we work with, recognizing that true success goes far beyond financial investment. Our goal lies in empowering entrepreneurs by not only providing capital but also guidance, strategic insight and an expansive network to thrive. One of the ways we’re bringing this commitment to life is through our partnership with Serac Ventures, where our collaboration transcends a typical investment and is deeply rooted in shared vision, personal connection and strategic collaboration. Our CEO, Raudline Etienne, reflected on the partnership stating: “It is gratifying to partner with a firm that approaches their space in a similar fashion as we do. We’re thrilled by Kevin Moore’s momentum since we began our relationship, from expanding the Serac team and portfolio to the visionary founders he’s supporting. The progress has been impressive, and we’re energized by what the future holds as we work together to create lasting impact.” #InstitutionalInvesting #FundManagement #VentureCapital

Kevin Moore and Darrel Frater ✝️ share their thoughts on this important topic with Black Enterprise Magazine.
Ever wondered why less than 1% of venture capital goes to Black and women founders? The bottleneck that no one talks about lies at the top of the funding chain. Simply put: LP dollars are not flowing to fund managers who actually back diverse founders. This needs to change. The more dollars that go to these managers, the more dollars that reach underrepresented founders. It’s imperative that we support initiatives and fund managers who prioritize diversity, and hold bad actors accountable. Thank you, Black Enterprise Magazine, for partnering with Kevin Moore and me to shed light on this critical issue. Please read this article and share your thoughts. Have a blessed day! https://lnkd.in/gyk4eSpb

We are excited to join Philip Barrar, Dave Fortin, CFA, and the team at FutureMoney on this journey to help millions of families build wealth.
We are thrilled to announce our latest investment in FutureMoney, a fintech platform dedicated to helping families build generational wealth for their children. At Serac Ventures, we believe firmly in the massive market opportunity available in democratizing access to wealth-building. FutureMoney, led by serial entrepreneurs Philip Barrar and Dave Fortin, CFA, caught our attention with their mission to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time—helping families set their children up for long-term financial success. FutureMoney’s flagship product, the Junior Roth IRA, allows families to grow wealth tax-free without requiring earned income. This unique approach is a game changer, especially for families who may not have had access to traditional investment vehicles. It's a solution that democratizes financial planning, making it easier for parents to give their children a financial head start with just a few dollars a week. The regulatory changes from the SECURE 2.0 Act have unlocked incredible opportunities, and we believe FutureMoney is perfectly positioned to lead the charge. With the closing of this round, we believe that FutureMoney can capture a significant share of the market. Congratulations to the entire FutureMoney team! We’re honored to be part of this journey and look forward to helping them continue to empower families across the country. Check out FutureMoney. I enjoyed having dinner yesterday in Oklahoma City with Raphael Akinsipe, CEO and founder of SocialCrowd, a Serac Ventures portfolio company. As VCs, I believe it's important that we spend time with founders to understand who they are are as people and what motivates them to succeed. Additionally, I think it's important to invest in people that we like because we'll likely be working them for 5 to 10 years. Thank you, Raphael Akinsipe, for your hard work at Social Crowd and we are grateful to be one of your supporters.
