7 things that just make sense for scheduling to help minimize exposure risk, enhance safety and set our senior dog patients up for a successful visit. 1. Schedule as the first appointment of the day, if possible. 2. If small enough, carry them into and out of the clinic and during the visit unless in the exam room. 3. Wait in the car instead of the lobby and ask if staff can call you when they’re ready. 4. Don’t be scared of anxiety meds to help them be more comfortable during appointments. 5. Use a harness instead of collar when on leash. 6. Bring their food and/or treats with them to the visit 7. Bring a first morning urine sample (and a fresh stool sample) to the appointment. Want to learn how to Implement Senior Dog Care Programs in your practice? This is just one of the important topics covered in our Race-Approved Senior Dog Veterinary Certification Program.
