Rux Energy is leading game-changing hydrogen storage solutions for mobility applications.

About us

Rux Energy is reinventing hydrogen storage. Rux is partnering with leading Australian, UK and Singaporean universities and first adopters of hydrogen to solve one of the most significant barriers preventing the widespread adoption of hydrogen energy - safer and more efficient hydrogen storage and distribution. Rux's hydrogen storage solution incorporates patented Rux MOF (Metal-Organic-Framework) technology into specialised carbon fibre composite tanks to store hydrogen at moderate temperatures and lower pressures, eliminating sources of inefficiencies like boil-off. The MOF-enabled tanks will significantly improve hydrogen storage density and safety, providing our customers with a lower-cost, higher-performance solution in bulk hydrogen supply and storage for heavy transport, including heavy vehicles and the maritime, rail and aviation sectors, with ambitious goals to become the global category leader in hydrogen storage and supply distribution. Rux takes a holistic approach to both solving the storage, supply and distribution of hydrogen and the end-to-end scale manufacturing process around the systems-integrated solution with a goal for delivering carbon-negative products and zero carbon services, setting new global standards in circular economy and waste-to-product while slashing the baseline cost of production. Rux's goal is to directly contribute to 10 million tonnes of carbon abated annually by 2030, with our key focus on maritime.

  • Highlighting Chiara Fois recognised by ACM CRC receiving the RISE Fellowship Award presented by Dr Abby Bloom at the Annual Partners Meeting held at The University of Queensland School of Chemical Engineering UQ. Dr Chiara A.M. Fois is one of Rux's exceptional engineers who's passion for circular economy and zero waste, means we will hit our zero waste + low embedded emissions goals earlier than Rux had anticipated.

Minister for Climate Change, Minister for Energy, Minister for the Environment and Minister for Heritage. Leader of the Government in the Upper House.

We’re investing $7 million in four NSW businesses which are researching and developing technologies that’ll bring down emissions in high-emitting or hard-to-abate industries. Each project receiving a Clean Technology Research and Development Grant is in the early stage of shifting emissions-reducing technologies towards real-world use. 💡Rux Energy Pty Ltd will bring together key NSW hydrogen experts and companies to develop a hybrid composite to develop more efficient hydrogen storage for aerospace. 💡Allegro Energy Pty Ltd will develop a low-cost, locally made energy storage solution for long-duration use. 💡Number 8 Bio Pty Ltd is working on scalable cattle methane mitigation technology. 💡Plasma Leap Technologies Pty Ltd will develop a carbon-free method of combining plasma and electrolysis for producing ammonia, a key ingredient in agricultural fertiliser. The Minns Labor Government has made action on climate change a whole of government priority and has legislated emissions reduction targets to reach net zero by 2050. Research and Development work is the key creative area we need to leverage to find new ways forward.

"Leadership is critical and I've been inspired by meeting founders developing promising technologies (see reflection #1), like Seabound’s Alisha Fredriksson and Rux Energy’s Dr Jehan Kanga, who are blazing a trail for female and non-white leaders in the global energy transition." Big thanks to Max Harris from Associated British Ports for mentioning us alongside such an elite group of colleagues.

  • "If our technology can inter-operate with a legacy system, we don’t have to build new systems. We also don’t have to wait for extensive infrastructure developments such as hydrogen pipelines." Dr Jehan Kanga creating a clean energy legacy with our friends at Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade). Australian cleantech company Rux Energy have developed a hydrogen storage solution that could cut port carbon emissions by 90%. 💧🚢 The technology works like a sponge to absorb #hydrogen, enabling storage at higher densities. Rux is attracting interest internationally, with trials underway in the UK and the Netherlands. ‘Australia and the UK uniquely share complementary strategic research, development and technology commercialisation capabilities, and the Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement (#AUKFTA) will catapult both country's ambitions, particularly in enabling the world's energy transition,’ says Rux Founder and CEO Dr. Jehan Kanga. ‘Rux Energy, along with our Australian and UK green hydrogen supply chain and development partners will all benefit from the FTA’s Strategic Innovation Dialogue to drive not just our technology but all the technologies we're dovetailing with, creating a lower cost, more efficient pathway to zero carbon. We are also really looking forward to increased bilateral exchange of talent between Australia and the UK, crucial for sharing knowledge and accelerating our collaborative path to market as we shift toward scale.’ Read more about this pioneering technology and how Australia's hydrogen sector is working with global partners to accelerate decarbonisation: https://lnkd.in/guy_GFmp

  • We are delighted to see our CEO Dr Jehan Kanga recognised by The Australian as one of Australia’s top 100 Energy Players! It is a wonderful acknowledgement of our dedication to enabling a hydrogen future as we develop and manufacture our advanced nanoporous materials and composite tanks. These materials which act like sponges in tanks, improve tank efficiency, slashing the cost of hydrogen storage & distribution by at least 10x making hydrogen cost-competitive with diesel. Shout out to our partners in Australia, Singapore and the UK and our supporters who share our big vision and of course the biggest thank you to our wonderful Rux team (our Rux Stars), none of this happens without you. #EnergyInnovation #ZeroCarbon #Top100EnergyPlayers #Decarbonisation #ClimateTech #GreenList #HyrdogenFuture
