By electrifying your appliances, you can enjoy lower energy bills and a healthier home. But it doesn't have to be done all at once. Lori, mum of two, is slowly upgrading her home. Lori replaced her gas ducted heating to reverse cycle AC and saved $400 on her winter bill this year. Next up, she's upgrading her ageing gas hot water heating system. "Once we've fully electrified our house, I'm going to throw a party. It's going to be my reward for getting off gas."🎉 Have you made a plan about which gas-powered appliance you will electrify next? #electrifyeverything

4 million Australian households are cutting bills with solar! ☀️ The government can help everyone access these savings through: - Affordable rooftop solar - Energy-efficient home upgrades - Household battery storage No one should miss out on cheaper, cleaner power. Let's make it happen for all. Find out more at- https://lnkd.in/g5vgnq4U

The average Australian household spends $2700 per year on petrol, so it's great to see the government subsidise cheaper EV loans to help our essential workers and low to middle-income workers reduce that cost of living pressure. https://lnkd.in/gbMMdNFG

☀️ Rooftop solar and distributed energy resources will deliver the cheapest form of energy. Nuclear will be too expensive and too slow to solve any problems for Australia. “Electrification could bring $1.7 trillion in savings for Australian households but there is a risk that a focus on nuclear will prevent this cost of living dividend being realised," said Rewiring Australia Chief Scientist Dr Saul Griffith. Rewiring Australia backs the Victorian Government's proposed rule to phase out expensive gas appliances, which will lower energy bills and emissions for households across the state. "Thanks to this policy, more Victorians will have lower energy bills and healthier homes," said CEO Dan Cass. "We encourage all Victorians to electrify as many appliances as they can afford and get solar if they don't already have it. This will mean their energy bills are no longer held hostage by international gas companies." Read our full response here: https://bit.ly/4gdzU7u https://lnkd.in/gAmX4E5K

🏠 Households in Victoria are the greatest consumers of residential gas in Australia, which is contributing to expensive household energy bills and damaging greenhouse gas emissions. By upgrading ageing gas appliances and petrol fuelled cars at the end of life for efficient, electric alternatives powered by renewables, Victorian homes can slash energy and petrol bills and live in healthier and more comfortable homes. Rewiring Australia has crunched the numbers, check out how much Victorians can save when they #electrifyeverything. Water heating is the second big ticket gas user in Victorian homes. Rewiring Australia modelling shows just how much Victorians can save by switching to electric hot water systems. The best part - electric hot water systems can take advantage of cheap daytime solar production, whether that's coming from your rooftop or from the grid. Bring on the power of the shower! ☀⚡🚿 Join the electrification movement 👉 https://lnkd.in/dkJBdi3y

In cool climate Victoria, space heaters are the biggest energy consumers in our homes. Rewiring Australian modelling shows reverse cycle air conditioners (also known as heat pumps or split cycle systems) use 3-4 times less energy than gas heaters, resulting in significant energy bill savings, and even more so if paired with rooftop solar! ☀️ 🏠⚡ Join the electrification movement today ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dkJBdi3y #electrifyeverything

Congratulations to the First Nations Clean Energy Network on the release of the First Nations Energy Strategy! Centring Traditional Owners of the lands where renewable projects are being built is essential to getting this energy transition right.
We really welcome this First Nations Clean Energy Strategy. It's a document that's been shaped and really has input from our communities right around the country from the last couple of years. We really congratulate all of the Energy Ministers for the leadership in this Strategy. I think it will actually deal with some of the inequities around energy access -- making sure our communities that are on diesel can actually have microgrids, and communities that are living in social housing in the cities can access rebates and panels on their roof like other parts of the community in Australia. So it will deal with some energy and equity. And I think the question around Traditional Owners being proponents ourselves, I think as the Minister Chris Bowen MP said, we've got a long way to go. We need to do investment, and we need to make sure that our Traditional Owner entities are fit for purpose and really resourced well, so that we can actually be proponents. And of course, I think the other thing the Strategy does is it incentivises industry to do the best practice they possibly can and that industry's actually focusing on First Nations' benefits, and that the Government also backs in industries doing the right thing. So we're really proud of the document and really look forward to the next couple of years of really implementing it and making sure it's really real. That’s Karrina Nolan talking, co-Chair of the First Nations Clean Energy Network, at a press conference to launch Australia's First Nations Clean Energy Strategy. Great to see this piece in the Herald Sun about a proposal for a loan scheme to help households Melbourne's South East electrify. https://lnkd.in/gQ8sR3Ma Rewiring Australia has been advocating for a government backed loan scheme to help more households benefit from efficient, electric appliances. If we leave electrification to the market, households on lower incomes will be left behind. Addressing the upfront costs with a property-contingent loan scheme means more Australians can cut their energy bill and have healthier homes.
