Building the future of sustainable maritime mobility.
About us
REGENT’s mission is to drastically reduce the time and cost of moving people and goods between coastal cities. Our vehicle, called a seaglider, is an all-electric, wing-in-ground-effect craft that operates within a wingspan of the water's surface and couples the speed of an airplane with the operating cost of a boat. Built to the same safety standards as all modern aircraft and watercraft, our vehicle will service routes up to 180 miles with existing battery technology and routes up to 500 miles with next-gen batteries, all via existing dock infrastructure. Our world-class team of aerospace and maritime engineers are leveraging maritime vehicle development pathways to bring our zero-emission, high-speed seagliders to market within five years.

Happy new year! 2025 is going to be REGENT’s biggest year yet. First up: We’re thrilled to share that our seaglider test facility is open. Here’s a sneak peek of the facility, located on Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island, where we’ll be putting the full-scale Viceroy seaglider prototype through its paces in sea trials in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates on our way to float, foil, and fly!

What a year! Billy Thalheimer reflects on the top moments of 2024, from welcoming the Secretary of the Navy to our headquarters, to stepping onboard the full-scale seaglider prototype for the first time, to growing our talented, world-class team. We’re looking forward to an epic 2025. Watch the full video and read more about our 2024 highlights here: https://lnkd.in/emdQ5mgS

It’s no surprise that images of our full-scale seaglider prototype hull were top posts of 2024. We look forward to unveiling new pictures in the new year! Look back at the first pictures of the hull: https://lnkd.in/d4hR6WUi

New key findings from the Hawaiʻi Seaglider Initiative show that 78% of Hawaiʻi residents support the introduction of an inter-island seaglider service. This is one of the results of a productive year of research and discussion on seaglider feasibility and impact. Here are some of HSI’s highlights from 2024: - Grew from a dozen organizations to more than 30 members across government, community, and business groups - Welcomed HCATT - Hawaii Center for Advanced Transportation Technologies, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and the Hawaii Community Development Authority as members, underscoring the coalition’s commitment to incorporating local needs - Analyzed how seagliders will increase accessibility for residents, creating pathways to high-paying jobs and educational opportunities and providing lifesaving medical care - Determined that seaglider operations would be technically feasible at most Hawai’i harbors, - Calculated that seagliders can offset up to 30% of CO2e emissions from inter-island commercial aviation travel based on existing energy sources We look forward to continuing to explore how to unlock seaglider benefits in Hawaiʻi in the years to come! Left, right. Fast, slow. Seaglider operations are really that easy. This year, we’ve had hundreds of people from all over the world – from 3-year-olds to senior government officials – take the captain’s chair in our seaglider simulator to experience how intuitive and smooth it is to float, foil, and fly. The future seaglider captains at UP.Partners’s UP.Summit community day made this one of our top posts of the year: https://lnkd.in/eVkSagbm #greatesthits #yearinreview #simulator #seagliders #floatfoilfly

It's the 3 year anniversary of christening our 1/4 scale prototype seaglider! So fun looking back. It was a massive accomplishment to put that vehicle in the water within a year of founding REGENT. Now, 3 years later, we're on the doorstep of christening our FULL-SCALE, human-crewed seaglider. 2025 is going to be epic.

#DCTechWeek was a huge success. Thank you to NYU Stern School of Business for hosting our panel discussion on #DualUse innovation and public policy. Thank you to Chris Morales of Point72 Ventures, Dave Clarke of Punchbowl News, Caryn Schenewerk of CS Consulting, and of course to our moderator Sinziana Dorobantu of New York University for such an amazing conversation about the value of dual use technology and the challenges and opportunities navigating the federal government. I was proud to share REGENT’s story as we build #seagliders and revolutionize commercial passenger transportation and maritime defense operations.
