Purdue University Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering reposted this
Congratulations to the students from Purdue University Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering on successfully presenting their capstone project! The group worked with RCAC to develop and implement an advanced, real-time predictive maintenance system using AI and IoT sensors for RCAC's HPC infrastructure. This tool is able to leverage sensors to predict research cyberinfrastructure incidents and point to areas of concern. The students presented their work at a poster session last Thursday. We are thrilled by all they have accomplished, and are excited to utilize their tool’s features to reduce unplanned downtime, enhance system performance, and help manage our #HPC resources. #PurdueUniversity #BoilerUp #Boilermakers #TheNextGiantLeap

Brad Duerstock of IE & Purdue University Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, and his collaborators at the Indiana University School of Medicine have received a $1.5 million grant to develop a patent-pending monitoring device for autonomic dysreflexia. This life-threatening condition usually develops after a spinal cord injury at or above the T6 vertebra. https://lnkd.in/gQb-nv2P

We love to hear this Jason! We feel the same way about Aaron Ramsey, MBA, F. A.M.!
Chief Strategy Officer | Pragmatic AI Implementation | Empowering SMBs & NPOs for Digital Transformation
Ever met someone and thought, "I want to work with this person on something, someday?" Aaron Ramsey, MBA, F. A.M., the Director of Industry Relations at Purdue University Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering (IE), is one of those people. With over 20 years of manufacturing experience, an MBA, and Six Sigma Black Belt credentials, Aaron bridges the gap between IE faculty, students, and industry partners. His mission? Advancing IE education, research, and outreach while elevating Purdue University's IE's national and global reputation. Aaron and I have crossed paths a few times, and I think the feeling is mutual. When Aaron recently invited me to the IE431 Senior Capstone Poster Session, I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to explore collaboration possibilities. The event—held on Thursday, December 5th, from 2:30 to 5:00 PM at the Co-Rec —showcased incredible student projects. While none directly aligned with #OccupationalHealth, I couldn’t resist brainstorming ideas over an impressive spread of roast duck, couscous, and salmon pâté. Perplexity and ChatGPT identified three potential projects that resonated with me as having the potential bring the fields of industrial engineering and occupational health together: 1️⃣ Human Factors in Technology Adoption Objective: Investigate how employees interact with technologies like robotics or AI-driven systems in occupational health settings. Approach: Conduct usability studies and recommend adjustments for smoother transitions. 2️⃣ Health and Productivity Tracking Systems Objective: Evaluate the impact of workplace health programs on productivity and employee satisfaction. Approach: Develop tools to measure ROI on wellness initiatives and recommend enhancements. 3️⃣ Data-Driven Injury Prevention Objective: Use predictive analytics to flag employees or tasks at higher risk of injury. Approach: Combine industrial engineering techniques with health data to prioritize interventions. I love that #AI, #MachineLearning, and #DataAnalytics are key elements in these concepts—almost as much as I enjoyed seeing Aaron and bumping into Virginia Vought. What other cross-disciplinary collaborations do you see between #IndustrialEngineering and #OccupationalHealth? #BoilerUp #Innovation
