Kevin Bain, PSC’s new senior strategist for climate and project finance, learned a lot from his time in Detroit. “Detroit was the most interesting place to work in terms of public finance,” he said in a recent article in The Bond Buyer. “Working there was such an opportunity to learn about the best and the worst, and make really hard decisions, and convince elected officials about the important of being fiscally responsible.” Navigating Detroit's transition from the world’s largest municipal bankruptcy to investment-grade status gave Bain the opportunity to try innovative financings. He will now put that experience to work for PSC's clients in the green bank sector, standing up and advising on new initiatives in different states. Read more from The Bond Buyer.

Our leadership in the development of green banks continues to grow, as Rebeccah Sanders is named the first executive director of the Clean Energy Jobs and Justice Fund in Illinois. This newly established green bank aims to use innovative financing tools to make energy efficiency upgrades and small-scale renewable energy systems more attainable for homeowners and businesses. “I’m thrilled to step into this role and advance this important work,” said Sanders. “We have a once-in-a-century opportunity to transform our state’s economy toward sustainability and equity from the ground up. Our mission is about more than advancing renewable technologies and energy efficiency — it’s about creating good jobs, empowering minority-owned businesses and cultivating thriving communities.” #GreenFinance #Sustainability

At PSC, we know water. We're often called upon to help water utilities and policymakers better understand the need and costs related to addressing water affordability for people in Michigan. Our analysis showed fully funding a statewide program that ensures affordable water costs for eligible households would cost approximately $162 million. By adding a proposed $2.00 to all 2.6 million retail water meters in the state, approximately 39% of potentially eligible households could benefit from the program.
