We are #SettingTheStandard in the olive oil industry by putting our farming and milling practices to the test of an independent third-party standard: the Sustainably Grown certification by SCS Global Services. This certification ensures our olive trees are planted, grown and harvested in a sustainable manner, committing Pompeian farms to global sustainability practices. We plan to scale certifications to all our olive farms globally – aiming for 50% of Pompeian farms to be certified by 2026 and 100% to be certified by 2030.

Why are we #SettingTheStandard and sharing our sustainability initiatives? It’s simple – we see the olive oil farming and production process as an opportunity to chart a new path to a sustainable future, keeping our promise to people and our planet. Our hope is to inspire and encourage the olive oil industry to join us!

Last month, we successfully completed the inaugural Maryland Innovation Lab, which partnered Maryland-based corporations with startups to explore cutting-edge solutions to reduce our environmental footprint. For 10 weeks, we worked with a global startup specializing in high-performance biomaterials and the results have been incredibly promising. “At Pompeian, sustainability is at the core of everything we do,” says Casey Smith, our Director of Innovation." Our collaboration through the Maryland Innovation Lab has not only helped us accelerate key R&D efforts, but it ensures we stay at the forefront of sustainable practices in the food sector.” Thanks to Maryland Department of Commerce, World Trade Center Institute and L Marks for organizing this program. We look forward to continuing our journey of innovation and sustainability, shaping a greener future for the olive oil industry and beyond.
